ALOR STAR: The Peninsular National Parks and Wildlife Department rescued a total of 127 pangolins during a raid at a premise at Hosba, Kubang Pasu district on Saturday. He said two Malaysians and two Thai nationals were detained to facilitate investigation under Section 68 (2)(a) of the Wildlife Conservation Act 2010 (Act716) for the possession of more than 20 pangolins or known as Manis Javanica, which are protected wildlife under 716 Act, without special permit. He also warned any individuals or groups against illegal hunting of wildlife species and said stern actions would be imposed on the offenders. "The department will continue to take proactive measures in tracking down and put a stop to the illegal wildlife hunters in the peninsular of Malaysia. "The wildlife species are the country's priceless treasures and the exploitation of the animal have to be curbed in order to prevent extinction as well as to balance the ecosystem,"he said.
