A flock of 1000 hens accidentally bought for $1.50 in an online auction likely have diseases and can't be rehomed. Hamilton man Steve Morrow got more than he bargained for when he won a Trade Me auction for 1000 birds, thinking he'd only purchased one. Hundreds responded and by midday, animal welfare group Animal Sanctuary had found homes for more than 700. Bishop said Ebbers volunteered to take the remaining birds and treat them for diseases with the birds he had rehomed earlier.
