About 100 bird species were spotted and documented during a campus bird count conducted on the campus of National Institute of Technology-Tiruchi recently. The campus bird count was organised by the National Club of NIT-T from February 17 to 20 coinciding with the Great Backyard Bird Count to document bird life across India. Members of the club and residents of NIT-T campus spotted 40 different species of birds in a span of an hour during the walk. More than 100 bird species were spotted and documented during the four day bird count, said A.K.Bakthavatsalam, faculty advisor of the Club. Eighty-five of bird species are found locally and are spotted commonly.
