The editor of Ananya Magazine, Tasmima Hossain, in her welcome speech, praised the 10 women who showed excellence in their respective arenas. Sweety Das Chowdhury and Sona Rani Roy were both honoured for their contribution in taking Bangladeshi culture to the world platform. Sona Rani is a handicrafts worker whose Nakshi Katha, the traditional Bengali embroidered quilt, made its place in international weaving festivals. Sona Rani Roy, craftswomanSona Rani Roy’s nakshi kantha won best place at International Handicrafts Fair in Spain. Sona Rani hails from Dinajpur and has recruited women in her area to produce more nakshi kantha, which is helping them become financially independent.
