1 killed, 2 hurt in BSF firing on Lalmonirhat frontier


The incident took place around 3:45am Friday. Cowherd Mohibur Rahman, 38, son of Nazu Pramanic from Malgara area under the upazila, died of his bullet wounds while other cattlemen were carrying him to his residence. Goral UP Chairman Mahamudul Islam said a BSF patrol team from Satvandari camp run the firing while about 18 cattlemen including Mohibul were smuggling cows into the country from India. Three cattlemen received bullet injuries in the firing and they, however, managed to flee the spot. Border Guard Bangladesh 15 battalion Director Ahmad Bazrul Rahman Haiyati confirmed it to the Dhaka Tribune, telling that they have sent a letter to the BSF camp protesting the incident, in which a flag meeting was called between them in this regard.
