DMCH police outpost Sub-Inspector Md Bachchu Mia said Parul Akhtar was undergoing treatment when she died in the burns unit around 10am on Friday. The unit's resident physician Partha Shankar Pal told bdnews24.com that the 65-year old had suffered 37 percent burns. Her grandson Fahim Shikder, 14, also died in the burns unit on Aug 28. Akhtar and Fahim were burnt when the air conditioner in their flat at Tipu Sultan Road in Old Dhaka's Wari exploded in the early hours of Aug 27. Fahim's father Foysal Shikder, mother and brother, were also mildly injured in the explosion.
