1.16 crore mobile phone users subscribe to 4G last year


Representational photo BigstockThe BTRC handed over 4G licenses to Grameenphone, Banglalink, Robi and Teletalk in February last yearAs many as 1.16 crore mobile phone users subscribed to 4G internet faster data service in last year, according to data of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC). The regulatory organization’s statistic also stated that the figure was 13.5% of total mobile internet users in the country, as of 2018. The 4G service is currently available in all divisions, as well as 450 upazilas across the country. As of December 2018, out of 9.13 crore internet users in the country, 8.55 crore are mobile internet users, according to the BTRC. According to BTRC’s annual report, in February 6.65 crore mobile internet users subscribed to 3G service, which decreased to 6.60 crore in March, 6.56 crore in April, 6.53 crore in May, and 6.48 crore in June respectively.
