1,000 tractors bring Paris's roads to a standstill as farmers protest President Macron


A thousand tractors have brought Paris's roads to a standstill today in a protest aimed at President Emmanuel Macron's 'agri-bashing' policies. The farmers blocked major arteries in the French capital on Wednesday morning, blocking commuter traffic and fuelling yet more social unrest against Macron. The two major farmers' unions are demanding a meeting with the president and changes in his policies, in particular a ban on the weed killer glyphosate. Another in a convoy flanked by police motorcyclists took aim at the president: 'Macron, answer us! France is the largest agricultural producer in the EU and the biggest beneficiary of subsidies under the EU's Common Agricultural Policy.
