Pearl Jam lead singer and guitarist Eddie Vedder saluted Tragically Hip frontman Gord Downie from the Wrigley Center in Chicago on Saturday. When Vedder met Downie, who was diagnosed with brain cancer last year, the pair spent a few days recording together. “He was very courageous and decided to take (the Tragically Hip) out on one last tour and tonight’s the last night of that run,” he continued. We love you.”Pearl Jam performed “Light Years” off of their album Binaural, from 2000. The emotional tribute included the lyrics: “Your light’s reflected now, reflected from afar/ We were but stones, your light made us stars.”
