‘We Want Election’ march to start at 9am

The group had initially planned to start the march from the university at 7am to pressure the junta-backed government and the National Council for Peace and Order to hold the next election within this year. Sirawith Seritiwat, or “Ja New”, told the demonstrators gathered in the Thammasat University compound that the march would start at 9am to avoid impacting traffic during rush hours. He said the demonstrators would walk in rows of three on the left lane but would not use the pavement. They would walk to the right from a Thammasat gate to pass the Phan Pipop intersection into Rajdamnoen Klang, passing the Kok Wua intersection, Democracy Monument, the Chor Por Ro intersection, the Army headquarters, the United Nations, Makkawan Bridge and the Education Ministry and reach Gate 5 of Government House. Sirawitch told those who could not enter the Thammasat compound to wait for the procession in front of Royal Hotel.
