‘She died in front of my eyes’: How the COVID-19 death of one personal support worker devastated her family

The personal support worker died last Monday and has yet to be buried. Reid was herself a personal support worker at long-term-care facilities, working for the Victorian Order of Nurses in Peel and also independently contracting herself out to care homes. Her last place of employment as a PSW was at Holland Christian Homes in Brampton. Latest figures from the province’s Ministry of Health and Long Term Care: Outbreaks have occurred in 175 homes. The family says they have yet to hear directly from Holland Christian Homes about Reid’s death, though condolences was offered on the company’s website.
