SUPER Typhoon “Rolly” pummelled several provinces on Sunday and made landfall three times, leaving floods and much devastation in its wake. Hundreds of thousands fled their homes as Rolly (international name: “Goni”) roared into the Bicol region. Rolly was downgraded from a “super typhoon” as it swept across Luzon towards Metro Manila. “Catastrophic violent winds and intense to torrential rainfall” would hammer areas in the typhoon’s path, including provinces near Metro Manila, Pagasa warned. Rolly hit a week after Typhoon “Quinta” slammed the same region and killed 22 people.
