Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bakerganj sadar police Harunur Rashid said deceased Farid alias Khokon, 35, was arrested on Sunday and had been accused in a dozen cases including that of murders and robbery. According to the OC, they were on their way to raid the hideout of Khokon’s gang later that night based on his information. “Members of the robber gang opened fire on police in front of a local school leading to the skirmish,” he said, adding that Khokan was fatally wounded in the gunfight. He was taken to Bakergaj Health Complex where doctors pronounced him dead. OC Rashid said two cases – one under Arms Act and the other for attack on police – would be filed over the incident.
