In one of the more moving speeches of the evening, Yang said, “There are 17 million Asian-Americans in this country, and there are 17 million Italian-Americans. “I play a young man who is, like so many of us, profoundly alienated,” he added, capping the theme for the night. “My dad worked door-to-door to sell insurance, my mom was pregnant with my brother and I. She would take three buses to go to work to give her children an opportunity to be special,” he continued.
