What is know is that he is fiercely territorial and likes to patrol Downing Street and the neighbourhood. The feline with the longest known tenure is Wilberforce, a black and white cat, who served for 18 years under Edward Heath, Harold Wilson, Jim Callaghan and Margaret Thatcher. “That’s right, Larry was a lie, an exercise in spin and branding,” writes James Kirkup in The Daily Telegraph.
