Sarah Paulson won her very first Emmy Award on Sunday night, for playing Marcia Clark in American Crime Story: The People vs O.J. Simpson, which is notable enough, but what really sets Paulson apart is that she brought the person she portrayed as her date to the show. While making her acceptance speech on stage, Paulson spoke directly to Clark, the former prosecutor in the O.J. Simpson trial: “The responsibility of playing a real person is an enormous one. Paulson’s co-stars Sterling K. Brown and Courtney B. Vance also picked up wins for their performances.
