An estimated 70,000 dogs are exported annually from IrelandThe country has earned the unwanted label of “puppy farm capital of Europe” in international media, evidenced by figures cited last year by the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA), which confirmed that puppy farms here export at least 30,000 dogs annually into illegal markets in the UK, Europe and Asia, an estimate the charity said reaches 70,000 when backyard breeders are considered.
