PETALING JAYA: Bangi lawmaker Dr Ong Kian Ming (pic) has asked the people not to judge new Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik based on his academic background. Firstly, his (Dr Maszlee) CV (curriculum vitae) is impressive and he should not be pi­­geon­holed as ‘just’ an ‘Islamic scholar’. He said apart from academic qualifications, Dr Maszlee also had vast experience in non-governmental organisation charity work in Lebanon and Jordan since 2004. Dr Ong said these provided Dr Maszlee with a “crucial insight” into the politics and social dynamics of the Middle East. On supporting controversial preacher Dr Zakir, the Bangi MP said Dr Mazlee’s views should not be misconstrued.
