Gor Mahia winger George ‘Blackberry’ Odhiambo’s individual brilliance was yesterday recognised and rewarded by Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK) in collaboration with betting firm SportPesa and LG Electronics as he was named Augusts’ Footballer of the month. Odhiambo received 49 inch LG Television set, a personalized trophy and Sh100 000. Odhiambo garnered 18 votes while Tuyisenge won 17 of the votes cast with Kasumba coming third with 14 votes. Speaking during the presentation ceremony at Parklands Sports Club, Odhiambo thanked the sponsors of the award and used the occasion to remind his employers that his contract was due to expire at the end of season. I have been patient with my career after dipping in form and I worked hard to regain my fitness.
