more-inThe Supreme Court on Friday decided to hear a group of parents based in the United States, whose children were “abducted” to India by their own spouses. A petition filed by the group under the banner ‘Bring Our Kids Home’ is about cross-border abduction of children by spouses who flee their marital homes abroad. The child is brought to India by the fleeing parent and is denied the love of the parent it left behind in another country. The group says such incidents cause trauma to the children involved and amounts to child abuse. India has no law to address such international “abductions” of children by their parents.
