‘11 more automated driver test tracks by September’

more-inAfter the seeming success of its first such facility at Sarai Kale Khan, the Transport Department intends to launch 11 more automated driver test tracks by September this year, said government sources. An area of around one acre has been demarcated at these locations and the creation of the tracks will cost around ₹1 crore each. On average, around 50 to 60 drivers taking the test fail every day, the source added. The project is also intended to end corruption related to issuance of drivers’ licences across Motor Licensing Officers in Delhi. Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and several cities in Kerala already have such automated driver test tracks.
