Had PSG not signed Lionel Messi there is no way they would have considered accepting any Real Madrid bid for their best player. The three-club carousel that has landed Messi in Paris and could now put Mbappe in Madrid has two winners and only one loser. With Pedri seen as a long term captain and Fati the eventual heir to Messi's number 10 shirt Barcelona's long term future is bright. Especially if PSG with Messi and Real Madrid with Mbappe go all the way to the final.

New class of exoplanets dubbed 'Hycean' planets could support ALIENS
A new class of 'waterworld' exoplanets have been found by astronomers, who say that despite being hot, ocean-covered and hydrogen-rich - could support life. Astronomers now say there may be more promising candidates out there, and these Hycean worlds are more numerous than Earth-like planets. A recent study on the mini-Neptune K2-18b found that in certain conditions these planets could support life. The investigation led researchers to identify a new class of planets, Hycean planets, with massive planet-wide oceans beneath hydrogen-rich atmospheres. 'But we think Hycean planets offer a better chance of finding several trace biosignatures.'

Delta ravages Free Trade Zones
BY Pamodi WaravitaTrade unions (TUs) representing the workers in the Free Trade Zones (FTZs) have written to the Labour Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva on Tuesday (24) claiming the Delta (B.1.617.2) Covid-19 variant of Indian origin has ravaged the FTZs and placed the workers in grave danger. “Many workers are falling victim to the virus with reports showing that even up to 11 workers test positive per day from each company. These include a 40% increase in the conducting of Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests and Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) on workers within the Zones. The unions have further claimed that hospitals surrounding the FTZs are also prejudiced against FTZ workers. However, they have requested the Labour Ministry to reinstate a full salary payment for all workers as last year’s agreement was only a temporary measure to support the industry during an emergency situation.

Biden, after he made remarks at cybersecurity summit featuring several prominent business executives, was asked by NBC's Peter Alexander what he would do if Americans are still in Afghanistan after the August 31st deadline to withdraw U.S. troops. President Joe Biden joked with an NBC reporter about the evacuation in Afghanistan as thousands, including many Americans, struggle to leave'You'll be the first person I call,' Biden joked in response. Top Biden administration officials, including the secretaries of Homeland Security, Energy and Commerce, will attend the summit as with Biden's cybersecurity team. The meeting is taking place as the White House has been dealing with the American troop withdrawal in Afghanistan and the evacuation there.

‘No harm in cops airing grievances to clergy’

Rishad’s alleged threat to go before prison tribunal
BY Buddhika SamaraweeraThe Prisons Department has taken steps to refer the incident where Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Opposition Parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen has allegedly made a death threat to a prison hospital doctor on 15 August, to a prison tribunal which will be headed by a magistrate. “A preliminary investigation was carried out under an Assistant Superintendent of Prisons into the allegations of insulting a doctor, making death threats and the obstruction of duty inside the Welikada Magazine Prison. According to the report of that investigation, in accordance with the provisions of the Prisons Ordinance, it was decided to refer the relevant case to a prison tribunal,” he added. Ekanayaka further said that a person who has committed an offence in prison can be brought before a prison tribunal of which the legal proceedings would be conducted by a magistrate. Accordingly, this case is to be referred to such a tribunal to conduct an independent inquiry and to take an independent decision, he noted.
