Pakistan, Korea look to boost chemical trade
The delegation included PCDMA Vice Chairman Shariq Feroz, Convener Diplomatic Committee Nasiruddin Fateh Kukda, and Senior Member Parvez Valimuhammad. PCDMA Chairman Salim Valimuhammad assured Korean officials of full cooperation, particularly in chemical chapters 28 to 32, to help expand the trade volume between the two countries. During the meeting, Korean officials suggested that the PCDMA delegation participate in the 2026 textile exhibition in Korea, which the Pakistani side accepted, noting that such participation would further strengthen bilateral trade ties.

Pakistan seeks Brazil aid for livestock exports

The minister said Brazil is internationally recognised as a global leader in livestock production, meat processing, dairy development and agri-food exports. In contrast, Brazil exports halal meat to many Muslim countries, underscoring the importance of institutional efficiency, quality assurance and value addition. He noted that production is largely based on tropical dairy systems suited to climatic conditions similar to Pakistan's. Both sides agreed Pakistan would prepare a draft framework focusing on slaughterhouse upgrades, SPS and traceability systems, meat processing, feedlot models and dairy productivity.

ITP record 45pc drop in violations, 22pc decline in road accidents in 2025
ISLAMABAD - Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) recorded a 45 percent reduction in traffic violations during 2025, while road accidents declined by 22 percent, reflecting significant improvements in road safety across the federal capital. The CTO said that during 2025, more than 762,500 enforcement actions were taken against traffic violations, which played a key role in reducing accidents and improving driving behaviour in city. He said the enforcement drive focused on five major violations, including wrong-way driving, reckless and over-speed driving, underage and unlicensed driving, lane violations, riding without helmets, and use of fancy or non-standard number plates. Outlining targets for 2026, the CTO said ITP would focus on deadly violations such as lane violations, reckless driving and over-speeding. He emphasized that all targets for 2026 could only be achieved with public cooperation, urging citizens to follow traffic laws and support Islamabad Traffic Police in making the capital’s roads safer and more disciplined.

Mr. Akamatsu Shuichi, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, on Tuesday, 23rd December 2025, inaugurated a project for the construction of eyecare facility in Tehsil Havelian, District Abbottabad. The project was implemented by Lok Sudhar Association, a non-governmental organization working to improve the essential eyecare services for underserved communities in Havelian. This project funded by the Government of Japan, improved the quality of eyecare service in Havelian, especially enabled to access cataract surgery for the first time in this region. Ambassador Akamatsu emphasized that provision of affordable health facility is the one of the top priorities in Japan’s assistance policy toward Pakistan. Ashes: England board decides to investigate allegations of excessive drinking

Romanian Studies Inaugurated for the First Time in Pakistan at NUML
The Embassy of Romania in Pakistan, with the support of the Institute of the Romanian Language and in collaboration with the National University of Modern Languages (NUML), has inaugurated the first-ever academic presence of Romanian Studies in Pakistan. The event marks the historic introduction of Romanian language, literature, and cultural studies into Pakistan’s leading multilingual academic environment. Developed in partnership with the Institute of the Romanian Language and supported by the Embassy of Romania in Pakistan, the Romanian Studies program goes beyond language instruction. The donation was made with the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania, further strengthening the academic foundations of Romanian Studies at NUML. The Romanian Studies program will be coordinated by Dr. Oana Ursache, Doctor of Philology, specializing in comparative literature, culturology, and Hispanic, Oriental, Pre-Columbian, and Arabic literatures.
