In an interview with an American media outlet, Bilawal underscored the need for a comprehensive approach to dealing with TTP saying that we have to cooperate with the Afghan Interim Government to halt TTP from carrying out further heinous attacks.

‘Referring to historical fact’: Bilawal defends Modi remarks
Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday defended his recent 'butcher of Gujarat' remarks about Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that he was "referring to a historical fact”. The foreign minister had said that instead of being punished for the 2002 massacre of over 2,000 Muslims in Gujarat, Modi was made the prime minister of India. He was banned from entering this country until he became prime minister. This is the prime minister of the RSS and the foreign minister of the RSS. In an interview with Bloomberg published today, the foreign minister defended his remarks, saying that he was “referring to historical reality".

$1.7b flood response loan approved
Three of the projects support rehabilitation, housing reconstruction and the restoration of crop production for vulnerable communities, while the other two projects support mother and child healthcare services, according to the lender. The World Bank has approved a $500 million loan for the Sindh Flood Emergency Rehabilitation project aimed at rehabilitating damaged infrastructure, providing short-term livelihood opportunities, and strengthening the government’s capacity to respond to disasters. The project will help restore and improve critical irrigation and flood protection infrastructure, water supply schemes, roads, and related infrastructure. The lender has also approved $500 million for the Sindh Floods Emergency Housing Reconstruction project to support owner-driven and multi-hazard resilient reconstruction of core housing units. Another loan of $292 million has been approved for the Sindh Water and Agriculture Transformation project to increase agricultural water productivity, improve integrated water resources management, and restore crop production.

The TTP claimed several attacks in recent days, He submitted that the speaker could not bar a lawmaker from attending assembly proceedings for 15 sittings. At this, the bench questioned what was the stance of the speaker on 15 days and 15 sittings issues. The speaker’s counsel submitted that it had a real and a legal aspect. No-Confidence Vote
Share:The political contest between the PTI and the PDM took another turn this week as days before the planned dissolution of assemblies in KP and Punjab, a no-confidence motion was submitted against Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi in the Punjab Assembly (PA). As per the constitution, if a minimum of twenty percent of the total members move a no-confidence motion, it will have to be voted upon. Thus far, around 150 members have signed the motion with more members expected to join from outside of Lahore. This is being done to cover all the exits as it will strip the speaker of the power to dissolve the assembly. Some reports also suggest that other strategies are also being considered, such as Chaudhry Shujaat using his influence to bar MPAs from voting in favour of the CM in the no-confidence motion.

Jury finds former Harvey Weinstein guilty of rape
The jury found Weinstein guilty of rape, forcible oral copulation and sexual penetration by a foreign object involving one woman but acquitted him of charges relating to a second alleged victim. In Los Angeles, Weinstein faced seven counts of rape and sexual assault from four women for encounters between 2004 and 2013. Siebel Newsom and three other women offered testimony that provided the basis for the two counts of rape and five counts of sexual assault that Weinstein faced. They also highlighted that some of the accusers, including Siebel Newsom, kept in contact with Weinstein, which they argued did not make sense if he had attacked them. Siebel Newsom attended a pre-Oscars party hosted by Weinstein with her husband and sent Weinstein dozens of friendly emails over the years.

9 dead, 23 injured in road accident near Rajanpur
Nine people died while 23 were left injured as a passenger coach collided with a stone-carrying tractor-trolley near Shahwali on the Indus Highway. The passenger coach coming in from the front collided with the tractor-trolley and two passenger coaches at the same time. According to the sources, Haji Rafiq, the driver of the Quetta coach died in the accident. Taking notice of the bus accident in Rajanpur, on the instructions of Dera Ghazi Khan Commissioner Liaqat Ali Chatta, teams reached the accident site to help the injured and medical emergency has been implemented in hospitals. The commissioner has directed that attention should be given to the best treatment in the hospitals of the bus accident victims.

He said Yasin Malik and other political prisoners were victims of draconian Indian Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Act (TADA), black law that aimed at targeting political opponents. “India’s malfeasant attempts to fallaciously implicate and incarcerate Kashmiri leadership in fabricated cases will neither dampen their (Kashmiris) morale nor dent their legitimate struggle for right to self-determination,” Senator Naek said.

Christmas shopping season gets into full swing
KARACHI: The holiday shopping season is in full swing on Monday, with retailers hoping consumers will spend big despite worries about the fragile economy and their own precarious finances. Many shops have set up additional counters to sell Christmas decorations such as miniature Christmas trees and buntings. “Ladies are quick to haggle but still never content with the shopping,” said another shopper at a local departmental store. Midnight masses will be organised in all the city churches late on Saturday (December 24) evening marking the beginning of Christmas celebrations. The Christian neighbourhoods have been illuminated and decorative lights and buntings have been put on the houses and churches to celebrate the occasion.
