Rain and snowfall lash Islamabad, other cities as cold intensifies
ISLAMABAD :Rain lashed Islamabad and several other cities, bringing a drop in temperatures and making the weather pleasant in the federal capital. Abbottabad, Haripur and adjoining areas received rainfall accompanied by strong winds, further intensifying the cold. In Kundian and surrounding areas, intermittent rain continued, causing water to accumulate in low-lying localities. Meanwhile, snowfall was reported in Nathia Gali, Thandiani and other upper regions, while cold winds persisted across these areas. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the spell of rain and snowfall is likely to continue for the next 24 hours.

PATS 2026: Field Marshal highlights role of core arm
He stated this while addressing the closing ceremony of the 9th International Pakistan Army Team Spirit (PATS) Competition, which successfully concluded at Kharian on 9 February 2026, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a press release. 16 domestic teams from the Pakistan Army and Pakistan Navy, along with observers from the Pakistan Air Force also participated in the event. Towards the culmination, the COAS & CDF presented awards to the outstanding participants of the competition. COAS & CDF also witnessed miscellaneous training activities at National Counter Terrorism Centre Pabbi including a visit to newly established Tactical Simulator. COAS & CDF lauded the efforts of troops and technical team and emphasised the importance of simulator-based training to complement traditional training methods.

People rejected PTI strike call, says CM Murad
KARACHI ; Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Monday said that people have rejected Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) February 8 wheel-jam and shutter-down strikes. Murad Ali Shah said that PTI’s strike call miserably failed, adding that no protests were seen anywhere in the country. Talking to the media, Sindh Chief Minister said that prices tend to rise during Ramazan and that the government is keeping a close watch on them. He added that wheat and flour prices have been kept under control, and efforts are being made to learn from past mistakes. Murad Ali Shah further stated that satisfactory arrangements were made for the Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar (RA).

PSL franchise Multan Sultans was sold for Rs 2.45 billion. Wali Tech bought the team by bidding the highest and renamed it Rawalpindi. The base price of Multan Sultans was set at Rs 182 crore while 5 bidders competed for the ownership rights of Multan Sultans. The highest bid in the Multan Sultans auction was Rs 245 crore and this franchise was sold for Rs 245 crore. PSL team Multan was bought by Wali Tech for Rs 2.45 billion for 10 years and the team was renamed Rawalpindi.

Ali Dar appointed CM Maryam's aide on Punjab
LAHORE/LONDON: The provincial government has appointed Ali Mustafa Dar as Adviser to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Artificial Intelligence and Special Initiatives, effectively creating a new department mandated to drive innovation-led policy, technology adoption, and AI-based initiatives across the province. Advisers enjoy the status and powers of a provincial cabinet minister and have the ability to attend Punjab Assembly sessions as per the prevailing law. He is married to Asma Nawaz Sharif, daughter of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and younger sister of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. He is the eldest son of Senator Ishaq Dar the country’s deputy prime minister and foreign minister. First-ever court action against social media platforms
A lawsuit is underway in the US against social media platforms that could change the way they operate in the future. The landmark case, filed in a Los Angeles high court, accuses social media companies of intentionally making their platforms addictive, much like tobacco and cigarettes were in the 1980s. In recent years, people have tried to take Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok and Snapchat to court for online harm, but they have failed. The social media companies’ defense in this process has relied on Section 230 of the US Communications Act, which protects online platforms because they publish third-party content. According to the section, platforms are not responsible for content posted by users.

Talks are underway between ICC and Bangladesh
