I did not observe how that vaccination was done because I trusted in the professionalism of the medical staff. When I protested that she should be giving me 0.3ml she replied that the balance of the 0.1ml was already in the needle. She also said that she was a trained staff nurse used to giving this kind of injection many times before. I disagreed and requested that she draw the amount of vaccine up to 0.3ml indicated on the syringe. It appeared that this nurse could have been giving this lower dose of vaccination to many recipients.

OF late, I have noticed numerous complaints in the newspapers about the Immigration Department’s handling of applications for the MyTravelPass required to leave the country. As a retiree and a permanent resident of Britain I can exit the country without the travel pass; however, my wife, who is my dependant, had to apply for it, which she did on Sept 3. The department’s website states that individuals exiting the country as students and workers in their destination country do not need the pass and neither do their dependants. Which leads me to ask: Why are dependants of long-term residence pass holders not included in this group that is exempted? My wife is my only carer and is therefore an important component in my travel given our age.

DEPUTY Speaker Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said will not allow MPs to raise on-going court matters in Parliament. “If I were, I would not have allowed an on-going court case to be raised in the House as it is sub-judice,” she said when asked by RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong) on a ruling. She acknowledged that the rule was subject to the interpretation of a presiding House speaker. Rayer asked Azalina to make a ruling following the statement made by Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan (BN-Pontian) during his debates on the 12th Malaysia Plan in Dewan Rakyat last week. On Rayer’s request for Ahmad to retract and apologise to the House for his statements, Azalina asked him to file his request officially by way of a motion.

Yang, a businessman, most recently mounted an unsuccessful campaign in the New York mayoral race, following his failed 2020 Democratic presidential primary run. “My goal is to do as much as I can to advance our society,” Yang wrote. Throughout his 2020 presidential campaign, his slogan was “not left, not right, forward.”His presidential campaign introduced the idea of a universal basic income to a national audience through his proposed US$1,000 monthly “Freedom Dividend” for all Americans. New York City used a ranked choice voting system for the first time in the mayoral primaries Yang participated in before ultimately dropping out on election night. On Twitter, Yang defended himself against suggestions that his decision to change his party registration was connected to the release.

(Reuters) -Facebook Inc blamed a "faulty configuration change" for a nearly six-hour outage on Monday that prevented the company's 3.5 billion users from accessing its social media and messaging services such as WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger. The company in a late Monday blog post https://engineering.fb.com/2021/10/04/networking-traffic/outage did not specify who executed the configuration change and whether it was planned. "We want to make clear at this time we believe the root cause of this outage was a faulty configuration change," Facebook said in the blog. The Facebook outage is the largest ever tracked by web monitoring group Downdetector. "Facebook basically locked its keys in its car," tweeted Jonathan Zittrain, director of Harvard's Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society.

JAKARTA, Oct 4 (AFP): Indonesia will reopen the resort island of Bali to select international travellers next week, a senior minister said, after the pandemic starved the holiday hotspot of one of its primary sources of income. The island's Ngurah Rai International Airport will be open to international travelers from South Korea, China, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, Dubai, and New Zealand as of October 14, maritime and investment minister Luhut Panjaitan told a press conference. Bali's tourism-dependent economy was also hit hard by the pandemic as millions of visitors disappeared from the palm-fringed island. Authorities have begun a steady easing of restrictions as the country sees a decrease in daily confirmed Covid cases and deaths, including in Bali. Malls, movie theatres and offices in most cities have begun to reopen at reduced capacity and some schools have begun partial offline learning.

PARIS (Reuters) - France striker Kylian Mbappe said he informed Paris St Germain in July that he wanted to leave so that the Ligue 1 club earned some money from the transfer and had time to find a replacement. PSG turned down several bids from Real Madrid for Mbappe, who can leave as a free agent at the end of this season as his contract expires next June. Mbappe denied he had turned down "six or seven" extension proposals. "Personally, I did not appreciate the fact that they said I came (with the news he wanted to leave) the last week of August. I said at the end of July that I wanted to go."

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 4): Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz said he had already relinquished his executive and directorship roles at the Kenanga Group, when he assumed the role of chief executive officer at Maybank Investment Bank Bhd in June 2010. He said he also held directorships at several subsidiaries or associated companies of the Kenanga Group, which included Capital Investment Bank (Labuan) Ltd."Notwithstanding the fact that they had contacted my aide who informed Malaysiakini that I had relinquished my directorships when I left Kenanga Group in June 2010, it appears that the publisher chose to proceed with the article by highlighting my name in a manner which suggests that Capital Investment (Labuan) Ltd is still associated with me instead of being part of the Kenanga Group. "I have referred the matter to my lawyers for further advice and appropriate action," said Tengku Zafrul. Malaysiakini reported that Tengku Zafrul was among the high net worth Malaysians named in the Pandora Papers, based on documents of offshore dealings leaked from providers in Hong Kong or the Caribbean. The other day, at a press conference, the door gift was a T-shirt — a T-shirt with the large corporate logo of the company. One slightly older, pudgy, bad-tempered journo was heard asking for a second T-shirt, much to everyone’s amazement and surprise. The sort of laughing that makes you feel your facial muscles will be sore the next day, after the workout. It’s actually terrible being a journalist — or, more specifically, a financial journalist. And then you get sued as well by some blokes saying their reputation has been damaged by what was written.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Covid-19 pandemic is a unique, global and universally recognised single crisis that presented opportunities that need to be seized immediately, said Khazanah Nasional Bhd managing director (MD) Datuk Amirul Feisal Wan Zahir. He said the pandemic highlighted existential fragilities in Malaysia’s collective global socioeconomic community. "Inequality, imbalance, economic injustice, environmental abuse - these have never been more universally apparent, and so is the critical need to address them in a globally coherent and unified fashion. "To put it bluntly, the pandemic has unmasked the lies we have clung to for so long to provide flimsy comfort and security,” he said in his welcome remarks at the virtual Khazanah Megatrends Forum 2021 (KMF 2021) today. According to Amirul Feisal, to avert disaster, there is a need to create new narratives which would fundamentally change values and behaviours to shape the world that we would like our children to inherit.

JOHOR BARU: The technical committee overseeing the reopening of the Malaysia-Singapore border has agreed to the standard operating procedures (SOP) proposal by the state government. Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad said that discussion with Singapore on the border reopening could start once senior ministers gave a green light. Asked if the number of cases in Singapore would affect efforts to reopen the border, Hasni said that it would not. "I don't see that (the increase in cases) as an obstacle in our efforts to discuss (border reopening)," he said. On Sept 23, Hasni said that Johor would be submitting its proposal to Putrajaya for the reopening of the border with Singapore through the Daily Commuting Arrangement.
