The Liberia Athletics Federation (LAF) kicked off celebrations ahead of Liberia’s official celebrations by mobilizing children in schools and communities between the ages of 4 to 15 about Kids’ Athletics Day. Additionally, a one-day Kids’ Athletics workshop for over 15 Kids’ Athletics coaches will be held on Thursday. The LAF National Athletics Championship aims to spot hidden talents amongst clubs to form part of the LAF local national teams to compete in international championships. Meanwhile, Liberty is the reigning LAF Athletics Club Champion.

A UN official said Griffiths would meet representatives of the two generals at the heart of the conflict, army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, who heads the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Sudanese and Saudi officials have provided scant details about what the talks will cover and how long they will last.

ReutersAir strikes battered Sudan’s capital on Saturday, as fighting entered a fourth week only hours before the warring parties are to meet in Saudi Arabia for their first direct talks. In a joint statement, the United States and Saudi Arabia said the army and RSF would hold direct discussions in the Saudi city of Jeddah on Saturday, describing them as “pre-negotiation talks”. Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan confirmed “the presence of representatives” from both sides, but there was no immediate indication that the talks had begun. Daglo, commonly known as Hemeti, took to Twitter to welcome the talks and thank the US, Saudi Arabia and other international players for their efforts.

The sound of gunfire sent shoppers fleeing as a gunman rampaged through a mall in the Dallas area of Texas before he was shot by police, ITV News reportsA gunman has killed eight people and wounded seven others in a mass shooting at a Texas mall that sent hundreds of shoppers fleeing in panic. Witnesses at the mall described the sounds of gunshot and a virtual stampede of shoppers, as workers and customers hid in shops. A police officer who happened to be nearby shot the gunman dead following the shooting at a Dallas-area mall on Saturday, authorities said. Allen Fire Chief Jonathan Boyd said seven people including the shooter died at the scene. An Allen Police officer was in the area on an unrelated call when he heard shots at 3.36pm Saturday, the police department wrote on Facebook.

This sad event occurred on April 30, 2023 at the Barbra Ann Memorial Health Center, Gadnersville, Liberia following a brief illness. His remain has been deposited at the St. Moses Funeral Parlor pending funeral arrangements. Under the umbrella of The SANKOFA PILGRIMAGE TO BARBADOS, the trip is being organized by Ambassador Llewellyn Witherspoon in collaboration with the Barbadian government, 159 years after the forebears departed Barbados for Liberia. John Prince Porte emigrated from Barbados to Liberia in the mid-1860s. It also included references to several important research work on the Barbados – Liberia bilateral agreement conducted over the years, which enabled the 1865 emigration. The history of the relationship between Liberia, Barbados, and Crozierville should be preserved; it needs to be unearthed and celebrated. The family was one of about 50 that comprised what remains the only organized emigration of Barbadians to Liberia, indeed Africa.
