U.S.-Based Liberian Male “Club” Slices Off Chairs, Desks Problems in Home-Country’s Schools
The Club had purchased a total of 400 chairs and 100 desks for schools in three of Liberia’s 15 Counties: Grand Bassa, Margibi, and Montserrado. “Even if each of the other Liberian organization gives fifteen, twenty, fifty desks and chairs,” he added. Founding Chairman (retired) of the Gentlemen’s Club of Pennsylvania, Mr. Daniel Gayou, introduced the current Chairman for official presentation. The Ministry of Education’s truck conveyed the remaining chairs and desks to the other selected schools. The Gentlemen’s Club of Pennsylvania plans extending similar gesture to other financially handicapped schools in other Counties, if the funding is available.

It seeks to secure the customary land rights of communities affected by concessions in line with the Land Rights Act of 2018. The law guarantees customary land rights but many communities are still unaware of the law and how they can harness the rights it gives them. Francis Mwah, the Ministry of Agriculture’s representative on the National Oil Palm Platform of Liberia welcomed the initiative but cautioned against programs that drive way concessionaires.

The witness said Massaquoi escorted them to the bridge and it was then he allegedly executed the woman. Right after the woman’s execution, she told the court Massaquoi beheaded two of her friends. He has no ability to be a commander now.”“Witness 14” also told the court that Massaquoi had a girlfriend identified as Edna who he impregnated while in Monrovia. The court will move to neighboring Sierra Leone at the end of this week to hear other witnesses.

Liberia: Police Nab Main Murder Suspect in Maryland Killing
MARYLAND COUNTY — Police in Maryland County Tuesday announced the arrest of a guy only known as “Open Zipper”, 28, for the murder of 22-year-old motorcyclist, Mordecial Nyemah. Police say he was arrested in Sinoe County following a manhunt operation. He faces a murder charge. This is the second murder suspect that has been arrested less than a week since the murder of the 20-year-old Nyemah. The murder of Nyemah last week sparked protests in Plebo Sodoken District and Harper, prompting government to announce a 6:00am to 6PM curfew in the county.

He was declared murdered in Liberia on 1st June 2003, a month after he was indicted by the Special Court for Sierra Leone. But the witnesses, in separate accounts on Monday, told the court that Massaquoi ordered Koroma’s murder while the accused was fighting for Taylor in Lofa County between 2001 and 2002. He told the court another soldier named Marley informed him the incident happened between Masabolahun and Kolahun. The second witness, “Soldier 22,” told the court that while serving as a junior militia fighter, he was in a town in Lofa County when Massaquoi ordered Koroma arrested. In another instance, the first witness told the court that he saw Massaquoi in active combat at Waterside in Monrovia between 2002 and early 2003.

Zota District, Bong County — A 42-year-old resident of Belefania in Zota District Bong County, Saturday died after a tree fell on top of him. Police in Bong County said Manue Moses was on a ladder using a gas-powered chainsaw to cut a large tree limb around 11: 40 am. The representative of District Four Robert Womba, District Five lawmaker Edward Karfiah and Bong County Health Team Administrator were among early callers to console the family. Rep Karfiah, who described the incident as a tragedy, said it was painful that a young man should die in such a gruesome manner.
