Both former captains are now playing only ODIs, having retired from Test and T20Is. The demand to see them in action extends beyond India, with fans worldwide requesting more ODIs from the BCCI. Currently, India is set to play three ODIs and five T20Is on that tour. During India’s August tour of Sri Lanka, the BCCI has decided to add white-ball games to raise funds for flood relief. Although initially planned as three T20Is, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has requested ODIs instead.

The wild primrose wants a bit of shade, a bit of moisture in the soil, and it does not want to be competing with aggressive, vigorous neighbours. Once they are in and settled, they will spread slowly and seed themselves around, which is exactly what we want. These are not wild Irish primroses; they are heavily hybridised forms, bred entirely for colour impact. The lesser celandine, Ficaria verna, is one you will have seen carpeting roadsides and hedgebanks with glossy yellow flowers. Pale lilac-pink flowers, delicate-looking but actually pretty tough, and it is the sole food plant of the orange-tip butterfly caterpillar.

Sir, - President Catherine Connolly’s speech last Sunday, on International Women’s Day, was interesting in that it once again showed her selective outrage (“President’s condemnation of Iran war ‘violations’ puts pressure on Taoiseach before US trip,” Politics, March 9th). So, within a short few months we now have two examples of President Connolly seeming to give a pass to two groups who treat their people with contempt and brutality. Sir, - Following a diplomatic first few months, President Connolly seems to have been unable to resist sticking her toes into the choppy waters of international relations. Sir, - Dave Slater (“President Connolly and precedent,” Letters, March 11) fails to acknowledge what was a great achievement by President Connolly within months of her election. Let it rip, President Connolly.
