Tánaiste says Ireland has to work collaboratively to improve military capabilities
The Tánaiste said that the ITIP with NATO presented opportunities for future cooperation in areas like cyber, resilience and maritime situational awareness. “The European Union defence industry is the most fragmented, and militaries are the most fragmented. [1]In March, the European Commission presented the first-ever European Defence Industrial Strategy, in which the EU set out a target that Member States should procure at least 40% of their defence equipment in a collaborative manner by 2030. Martin went on to refer to ways in which Ireland is looking to expand and improve its military capabilities, pointing to the acquisition of radar technology as one area where cooperation may be beneficial. “We’re looking at radar now for example, and we may very well look from a government-to-government perspective on that,” the Tánaiste said.

The package includes an extension to the €257 million Increased Cost of Business Grant, a €54 million cut in Employer PRSI and €10 million in new enterprise measures. Minister for Enterprise, Peter Burke, Minister for Finance, Michael McGrath, Minister of State Pippa Hackett spoke at Government Buildings at the event. This will save approximately €125 per table for hotels, restaurants, public houses or other businesses where food is sold for consumption on the premises.

Teenage boy sentenced for repeated sexual abuse of his young cousin
Isabel HayesA teenager who repeatedly raped his “defenceless” younger cousin in their mutual grandparents' house has received 18 months detention. The court also heard that the teenager himself is alleged to have been the victim of sexual offending while living with his mother. The little boy told his mother that the abuse started when he was aged seven and his cousin touched him while he was in his grandparents' sitting room. He also said his cousin told him not to tell anyone. He also said that he had himself been the victim of sexual abuse from a young age before he came to live with his father.
