This is a game that the Giants unquestionably win without the dumb penalties. With Wilson under center and so much promising young talent, the Giants, are dare I say, watchable. I’ve added Charlie Kirk’s death as another line on the incredibly long list of reasons why I won’t return for good. I left New York City, and a dream job as a staff editor at The New York Times, for the beauty, calm and safety of rural Ireland. One of the last of the many shooting stories I worked on at NYT was particularly brutal, the Uvalde school shooting. School shooting in Texas was all I had. He coached me and my sister often about what to do if ever I found myself in a school shooting, or other dangerous situation.

Ukrainian President Zelenskiy urges allies for prompt decisions on air defenses suppliesUkrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has called on his European allies to make prompt decisions regarding the supply of air defense systems to Ukraine. The Ukrainian leader has called for more advanced air defense systems, such as the Patriot surface-to-air missile defense systems, which have been pledged by Germany and other European nations. This delay in shipments has exacerbated the pressure on supplies, as Moscow continues to intensify its air attacks. The ongoing conflict has highlighted the importance of effective air defense systems in protecting civilian populations and military installations from Russian aerial bombardment. As the conflict enters its fourth year, the international community's response to Ukraine's plea for air defense supplies will be critical in determining the course of the war and the future of the region.References:https://www.reuters.com/business/aerospace-defense/zelenskiy-pushes-allies-more-pressure-russia-new-air-strikes-hit-ukraine-2025-09-03/https://www.dw.com/en/germany-pledges-patriot-air-defense-for-ukraine/a-73233988https://www.irishtimes.com/world/europe/2025/09/09/ukraine-battles-air-defence-shortage-as-us-slows-shipments/

A bid to claw back France’s spiralling levels of public debt dominated prime minister François Bayrou’s rocky nine months in office. Photograph: Joel Saget/AFP/GettyAnother French government has effectively collapsed after prime minister François Bayrou lost a confidence vote in parliament, compounding the political crisis facing Europe’s second-largest economy. Bayrou will be the second prime minister to resign in less than a year, after failing to get a tough-love budget past parliament. French prime minister François Bayrou (left) and president Emmanuel Macron attend a farewell-to-arms ceremony earlier this month. The trick might be picking a prime minister who could earn the support of the Socialists, without being so left-leaning that they cause the Republicans to withdraw their backing.

French Socialist Party's Vallaud: The country's financial situation results from President Macron's policies. French Prime Minister François Bayrou is set to face a confidence vote in the National Assembly today, with analysts predicting a near-certain loss. Le Pen have stated their intention to vote against the budget, signaling the government's likely collapse [1].If Mr. Bayrou is forced to resign, President Macron will be left with several options. However, economists predict that France's debt problem is unlikely to weigh heavily on the broader eurozone, with the underlying demand for French bonds remaining strong [2].The French Socialist Party has blamed President Macron's policies for the country's financial situation. Socialist Party leader, Vallaud, argues that Macron's focus on global issues has distracted from domestic economic challenges, contributing to France's spiraling debt [1].References:[1] https://www.irishtimes.com/world/europe/2025/09/08/a-second-french-government-seems-set-to-fall-in-less-than-a-year-whats-going-on/[2] https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/macron-struts-world-stage-revolt-190244338.html

Illustration: Paul ScottHave we found the most expensive egg in Ireland? I said I’d just confirm that there was an egg in the bap – that’s a pretty standard breakfast bap staple, right?”You would think so but you would be wrong. The upper end of my estimate would have my breakfast bap now running at €13.90. Add the coffee and we were north of €22.”Seán “gave an incredulous, ‘Are you serious: €5 for an egg in a breakfast bap?’“, before he “cancelled the order and left. I guess we all have a breaking point and mine was the €5 egg in a breakfast bap, as an add-on.
