Airbus and EVA Air finalize firm order for 18 A350-1000 and 15 A321neo
EVA Air and Airbus have finalized a contract for the acquisition of 15 A321neo jets and 18 A350-1000 widebodies. The A350s will replace part of the Boeing 777-300ER fleet, of which EVA Air has 34 aircraft. “We have selected the Airbus aircraft following a thorough evaluation of the various models in each market segment. “This order marks a new phase in our relationship with EVA Air and we thank the airline for its confidence in Airbus. The new A350-1000 customer is expected to increase the order book for Airbus’ currently largest aircraft to at least 230 firm orders.

The new cargo destination opens a new chapter as it is the airlines’ maiden venture into the Maghreb region as part of its global freighter networks, according to the CEO. This addition increases its total African freighter destinations to 35 and boosts the airline’s commitment to delivering reliable and efficient services. Ethiopian Airlines on its social media indicated that the freighter services to Casablanca is said to be operated using the modern Boeing 777-200F cargo aircraft with payload capacity of more than 100 tons.

Ethiopia's agreement with breakaway region Somaliland, seeking port access in exchange for potential sovereignty recognition, could cause upheaval in the Horn of Africa. Under different circumstances, the kind of deal agreed between Ethiopia and the breakaway region of Somaliland would have been relatively straightforward. From a Somali point of view, this would make all further steps by Ethiopia and Somaliland illegal. Port access, airline shares and a promise to SomalilandAt the epicenter of the deal is the commercial port of Berbera, which has recently been significantly expanded by DP World, a port logistics company based in the United Arab Emirates.
