Egyptian Actor Ahmed Hatem promoted his new film “Al-Molhed,” (The Atheist) which is scheduled to premiere in cinemas on New Year’s Eve, December 31. Hatem shared the film’s poster on his Facebook page, captioning it, “In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.”Producer Ahmed al-Sobky said the film’s release date of December 31 follows a long period of controversy and repeated requests to ban its screening. This decision came after writer Ibrahim Eissa announced that the Egyptian judiciary had issued its final ruling allowing the film’s release and rejecting all lawsuits seeking to halt its screening. Sobky shared the official trailer for the film on his social media accounts, writing: “The official trailer for ‘The Atheist’ is out! “The Atheist” explores the growing phenomenon of atheism among some young people and its impact on individuals and society.

Christians in Egypt do not recognize Israel as the ‘Promised Land’: Coptic Pastor
Reverend Amir Tharwat, pastor of the Evangelical Church in al-Faggala, Cairo, said on Tuesday that Christians in Egypt do not believe that Israel has a right to be called “the Promised Land”. Tharwat added that Judaism is not inherently a closed religion, but has been transformed into one. He pointed out that the Book of Joshua is present in the Christian Bible, and that there is a significant time gap of 3,500 years between Netanyahu and Joshua. Tharwat explained that Joshua was waging a war of extermination against his enemies, and that declaring victory meant the annihilation of the other people, as was the nature of the times. “There are atheist Zionists, and their number is significant,” he noted.

Egypt’s national team begins preparations for South Africa match
The Egyptian national football team, led by Coach Hossam Hassan, held a training session at the Taghazout Stadium in preparation for their match against South Africa in the Africa Cup of Nations tournament being held in Morocco. Egypt is scheduled to face South Africa at five pm on Friday, in the second round of the group stage of the Africa Cup of Nations. The players who participated in Monday’s match against Zimbabwe in the first round of the tournament underwent recovery training, while the rest of the squad performed physical exercises, technical drills, and a practice match at the end of the session. Egypt’s national team secured a two to one victory over Zimbabwe in their opening match of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Egypt’s judiciary investigates accidental death of Italian tourist: Italian FM
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said on Monday that an Italian tourist died after being hospitalized following a collision between two cruise ships on Sunday evening in the Nile River, south of Luxor, Egypt. “The Egyptian judiciary is currently conducting an investigation to determine who is responsible, and at this time, we can only mourn the loss of this woman,” the minister added. Cruise ship collisionThe General Authority for River Transport announced on Sunday that the accident occurred while the cruise ship “Opera” was traveling from Aswan to Luxor. Turkey’s Erdogan to visit Egypt in early 2026 as Cairo pushes for Palestinian technocratic committee

Egypt, Spain discuss cooperation on migration health, rare diseases
Egypt’s Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar held a video call with Spain’s Health Minister Mónica García to discuss expanding bilateral health cooperation and strengthening coordination on issues of mutual interest, Egypt’s health ministry said in a statement on Tuesday. Ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said the talks focused on enhancing coordination on global health priorities, including support for World Health Organization (WHO) decisions, strengthening health systems, addressing humanitarian challenges, and migration health. The meeting also reviewed the World Health Assembly resolution on rare diseases and explored ways to accelerate the implementation of its outcomes to better support patients and advance global health equity, according to the statement. Both sides discussed cooperation with international organisations, particularly the WHO, as well as Egypt’s efforts to promote partnerships under the country cooperation strategy. Al-Sisi reconstitutes CBE board, renews Hassan Abdallah’s chairmanship
Under the new formation, the Board includes Rami Abou El-Naga and Tarek El-Khouly as Deputy Governors of the Central Bank. The Board also comprises a group of specialised experts representing key fields relevant to the banking and financial sector. These include Ali Faramawy as a technology expert; Sherif Kamel as a financial expert; Khaled Sherif as a banking expert; Essam Amer as an accounting and financial expert; Khaled Ali and Ahmed Radwan as economic experts; and Amina Hassan as an economic expert. These efforts have translated into a new set of incentives and measures aimed at improving tax services and simplifying procedures. Taxpayers will also be allowed to benefit from the simplified tax system for the 2023 and 2024 tax periods. The package further includes measures to support the capital market, such as shifting from capital gains tax to stamp duty on stock exchange transactions. In addition, tax incentives will be granted to encourage companies to list on the stock exchange for a three-year period, a move expected to boost trading volumes and investment activity. Abdel Aal also highlighted the existence of an advisory platform through which all ETA issuances are presented to the business community prior to implementation.
