A massive explosion on Tuesday evening near Chad’s capital city of N’Djamena killed at least nine and injured 46 others, according to a statement from its foreign minister. Video authenticated and geolocated to the international airport in N’Djamena shows a massive fireball and sparks rising in the night sky. Satellite imagery from Maxar Technologies shows that 17 structures at the ammo depot were destroyed. In the satellite image, the structures destroyed in the explosion were spread out, and in two groups that were at opposite ends of the complex. Chad’s president Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno said that an investigation will be conducted into the cause of the fire at the ammunition depot.

CAIRO – 20 June 2024: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has stated that an investigation will be launched into the companies responsible for organizing the travel of unregistered Hajj pilgrims following the unfortunate deaths of several Egyptian pilgrims this year. Based on the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, there is a task force established to monitor and manage the crisis of the Egyptian pilgrims' deaths. He added that this is the lowest percentage of deaths among Egyptian pilgrims in previous years. However, due to the lack of registered data for unregistered pilgrims with the medical mission, it has been challenging to monitor their health conditions, Madbouly affirmed. The influx of unregistered pilgrims has resulted in a breakdown of service provision.

Beirut CNN —The leader of Lebanese militant group Hezbollah threatened Wednesday to target the European island of Cyprus if war breaks out between Israel and Lebanon. The drone also flew over the oil tanks that sit north of Haifa, the Haifa airport and several residential areas. Hezbollah has fired more than 5,000 rockets, missiles and drones at northern Israel since October 7, claiming that its attacks are in solidarity with the Palestinian people. Hezbollah has said in the past that it will only stop firing on Israel if Israel stops the war in Gaza. The Iran-backed group also announced it had targeted Metula and Kryat Shmona in northern Israel with drones.

CAIRO – 19 June 2024: The archaeological sites and museums across Egypt have witnessed a significant influx of visitors during the first three days of Eid al-Adha. According to an official statement, a substantial number of visitors flocked to museums and archaeological sites over the past three days of Eid. The Giza Pyramids alone saw 28,500 visitors, divided as follows: 8,000 on the first day, 10,500 on the second day, and 10,000 on the third day. The Citadel area had about 3,700 visitors, the Graeco-Roman Museum in Alexandria saw 3,700 visitors, and the Prince Mohamed Ali Palace in Manial had 570 visitors. Additionally, the Museum of Islamic Art received 213 visitors, and the Coptic Museum had 410 visitors.

CAIRO - 18 June 2024: The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed that the health system has lost more than 70 percent of its clinical capacity in the Gaza Strip and is struggling to support the remaining hospitals, according to Al-Qahera News TV Channel. The Ministry of Health said: "We are working to establish field hospitals despite the inability to provide the minimum basic services." The Israeli war on the Gaza Strip has continued since the 7th of last October, claiming thousands of martyrs and tens of thousands of injuries, in addition to the destruction of buildings and roads. The health system in the Gaza Strip is suffering from a very difficult situation, starting with the almost collapsed ambulance system, as the Israeli occupation bombed about 108 ambulances, and 11 hospitals out of 36 are partially operating.

CAIRO – 17 June 2024: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al Sisi and his delegation departed Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and returned to Egypt on Monday after performing Hajj. A brotherly meeting was held on Sunday between President Sisi and Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman in Mina, Saudi Arabia. Sisi earlier on Sunday, expressed appreciation for King Salman of Saudi Arabia and Crown Prince Mohamed Bin Salman for the warm reception he had been met with while performing the pilgrimage. The president concluded by extending his greetings to all Muslims worldwide on the occasion of Eid Al Adha, wishing both Egypt and Saudi Arabia prosperity and blessings. CAIRO – 16 June 2024: The Ministry of Health and Population announced Sunday that the Egyptian healthcare mission to pilgrimage had referred 1,110 Egyptian pilgrims to Saudi hospitals in Mecca and Medinah. The great majority were discharged after receiving the necessary medical service, and only 23 had to be admitted to those hospitals. The ministry highlighted that the total number of Egyptian pilgrims this year is 17,871. The Egyptian president himself headed Thursday to Saudi Arabia for pilgrimage, and expressed in a statement Saturday appreciation for the Saudi authorities for the outstanding organization of the ritual. He also wished Muslims worldwide a happy Eid Al Adha.
