Denmark will buy additional medium-range air-to-air missiles for its F-35 fighter jets and invest in better Arctic gear for troops, as part of a broader push to strengthen national and NATO defence commitments, the Defence Ministry said on Thursday. “This is another step in the accelerated build-up of the Danish Armed Forces’ combat power,” Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said in a statement. According to the Defence Ministry, the additional missiles will boost combat power and what it described as “credible deterrence.”Alongside the missile purchase, the ministry said it was also acquiring extra winter equipment and supplies. Commander of the Danish Air Force, Major General Jan Dam, said the additional missiles will reinforce Denmark’s “high level of readiness” both for the Kingdom and for its allies. “With additional missiles, we are strengthening the F-35’s operational effectiveness and our ability to solve tasks both nationally and within the framework of NATO,” he said.

On Thursday, British police arrested Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor , formerly Prince Andrew, on suspicion of misconduct in public office, after accusations that he shared confidential information with Jeffrey Epstein while serving as a British trade envoy. Andrew’s brother, King Charles III, confirmed the arrest in a statement. The anti-monarchy group Republic has claimed responsibility for the arrest, citing a report it sent to Thames Valley Police on Feb. 9. Smith, the group’s CEO, has been a thorn in the side of the Royal Family for decades. During the English Civil War (1642-1651), King Charles I was arrested by the parliamentary forces of Oliver Cromwell.

Carney had already welcomed two former Conservative MPs to the government side of the House of Commons — Chris d'Entremont in November, then Michael Ma in December. "Mark Carney is trying to seize a costly Liberal majority government that Canadians voted against in the last election through dirty backroom deals," he wrote in a social-media post. Cynically, one might have wondered whether Poilievre's recent enthusiasm for collaboration was inspired, at least in part, by a simple desire to avoid an election. As evidenced by the dismissive, even angry, messages posted to social-media by Conservative MPs on Wednesday, another defection might act to galvanize some Conservatives. But it seems that even among the remaining Conservative MPs there is a certain independent streak, of a sort that has lately been causing Poilievre different problems.

OTTAWA — Canadians fear that tariff threats from the United States are only going to get worse, a new poll found. Only 20 per cent of Canadians think that tariffs will be rescinded, a decrease of 20 percentage points from last year. Advertisement AdvertisementAdvertisement AdvertisementThe poll also found that more than half of Canadians (53 per cent) view America as a military threat. “Majorities of Canadians aged 18-to-34 (56 per cent) and aged 35-to-54 (54 per cent) think the United States currently represents a military threat,” wrote Canseco, in a press release accompanying the poll.

Heading into the game against Team Czechia, McDavid had already set a new record for most points through the first three Olympic games by NHL players. He grabbed a rebound in Team Canada’s zone, likely exhausted from all the back-and-forth. Team Canada tied the game but failed to recognize just how aggressively Czechia was selling out defensively, throwing their bodies in front of every Team Canada shot. Binnington shows once again he’s a big-game goaltenderRaise your hand if you questioned Team Canada’s decision to select Jordan Binnington for the Olympics last December.

Investigators later learned at least one victim had been sexually assaulted and that the blaze destroyed potential evidence. The brutality of the killings and the ensuing investigation "haunted Austin for decades," reporting has said. The four men identified in the proceeding are Michael Scott, Robert Springsteen, Forrest Welborn and Maurice Pierce. Springsteen and Scott were convicted largely on confessions they maintained were coerced by police; both convictions were overturned in the mid-2000s. Two of the original defendants, Michael Scott and Forrest Welborn, were expected to attend the hearing; Springsteen was not expected to attend.
