Twelve jurors in New York have presented their fellow Americans with a simple question: are you willing to elect a convicted criminal to the White House? On Thursday, Donald Trump was found guilty of all 34 counts of falsifying business records in a criminal hush-money scheme to influence the outcome of the 2016 election. The verdict makes him the first president, current or former, to be found guilty of felony crimes in the US's near 250-year history. Regardless, the conviction does not disqualify Trump as a presidential candidate or bar him from again sitting in the Oval Office. The Guardian’s Sam Levine has been in court over the last several weeks covering all the developments – here are three testimonies he found most memorable.

Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg said prosecutors followed facts and law 'without fear or favour' after a jury found Donald Trump guilty on all 34 felony counts in his criminal hush-money trial. 'While this defendant may be unlike any other in American history,' Bragg said, 'we arrived at this trial, and ultimately today at this verdict, in the same manner as every other case that comes through these courthouse doors – by following the facts and the law.' It was the first time a former US president was ever tried or convicted in a criminal case, and was the first of Trump’s four criminal cases to reach trial

It was all Stephen Beet’s baby; but what had become simply musical theory in 2005 is now practice again, he tells me. Eric will sing solo soprano items from Handel’s Messiah, first performed by the choir of St Patrick’s in April 1742. Eric is entering his second year of a Bachelor of Physical Science course, and studies lyric singing at the Paris Conservatoire. The Lady chapel of St Patrick’s should hold no terrors for a soloist who, three years later, sang outdoors with a choir of 10,000 children to 40,000 spectators and millions more TV viewers. “The voices of the old boy sopranos live through me, and I aim to keep and develop my soprano voice,” Eric says.

A widespread outage affecting over 600,000 routers connected to Windstream's Kinetic broadband service left customers without internet access for several days last October , according to a report by security firm Lumen Technologies' Black Lotus Labs. The incident, dubbed "Pumpkin Eclipse," is believed to be the result of a deliberate attack using commodity malware known as Chalubo to overwrite router firmware. 10 Downing Street in a downpour to announce the date of the general election — July 4, months earlier than expected — to an indifferent nation. “Now is the moment for Britain to choose its future,” Mr. Sunak said, as water soaked into his suit. Perhaps Mr. Sunak, his party now routinely polling more than 20 points behind the opposition Labour Party, has given up and wants to get it over with. Either way, by bringing the election forward, Mr. Sunak has played his last card. After Mr. Johnson had an explosive row with his chancellor of the Exchequer, Mr. Sunak was installed as a compliant and numerate alternative.

Whitbread, owner of the Premier Inn and Brewers Fayre brands, last month put forward its Accelerating Growth Plan, which will add 3,500 new hotel rooms to Premier Inns across the UK and evolve the company's food and beverage offer. This could result in Taunton's The O'Bridge Brewers Fayre being sold, along with several others, the company has confirmed. Footfall at the neighbouring branded restaurants owned by Whitbread - including Brewers Fayre - which serve 466 Premier Inns, have reportedly suffered from a reduction in footfall from non-hotel guests. An integrated restaurant will then be built inside each of these buildings alongside the hotel rooms, mirroring the already successful format of 387 integrated restaurants that are already in operation. 21 of the remaining branded restaurants will be sold for a total of £28m after combining for a loss of £9million in the 2024 financial year, resulting in the loss of around 1,500 jobs.

Pakistan, on the other hand, will be dissappointed with their performance as a whole in this game. They had some moments but were never really in the game defending this smallish target. The frontline pacers were taken to the cleaners and were unable to make much impact against the powerful batting of the hosts. Azam Khan also did not have a good game behind the stumps and dropped a couple of chances which you cannot really afford defending a low total. The only positive for them was Haris Rauf who showed some fight and picked up all the three wickets that fell and will look to maintaing this form in the World Cup while the rest have their task cut out.
