Arsenal will hold talks with Sturm Graz this week as the Austrian club push to sign Mika Biereth on a permanent deal. Arsenal now have a decision to make as Biereth has just one year left on his contract this summer. Sturm Graz will face competition for Biereth’s signature from Championship clubs, including Sheffield Wednesday. Sturm Graz is the third club Biereth has joined on loan since moving to Arsenal, following stints at Dutch side RKC Waalwijk and Motherwell of the Scottish Premiership. Biereth had been at Motherwell for the first half of last season but his loan was cut short after Sturm Graz expressed an interest.

Revelations about the Mossad’s efforts to influence Bensouda come as the current chief prosecutor, Khan, warned in recent days that he would not hesitate to prosecute “attempts to impede, intimidate or improperly influence” ICC officials. The ICC case, however, dates back to 2015, when Bensouda decided to open a preliminary examination into the situation in Palestine. Israel had long been open about its opposition to the ICC, refusing to recognise its authority. Soon after commencing the preliminary examination, Bensouda and her senior prosecutors began to receive warnings that Israeli intelligence was taking a close interest in their work.

They would be unable to do so if this scheme for National Service was put in place. Furthermore, young Catholic adults may well be thinking about getting married earlier than their secular friends. No doubt they would have be exempt from National Service, and rightly so. Ultimately, the fact that the Conservatives believe there is a need for compulsory National Service is a sad sign of the times. Any Catholic adult raised in a Catholic family should already be aware of his obligations to his family, neighbours, community and country.

Israel was determined to neutralize Bensouda’s investigations into Israeli war crimes committed in various attacks against Palestinians over the years. “Such actions may contravene Article 70 of the Rome Statute which governs the ICC,” writes the Guardian.
