Ahead of a busy summer of sport, the issue of doping remains firmly in the news headlines. With the recent announcement that Chinese swimmers are set for twice as many doping tests in Paris due to previous offences, sporting authorities will once again be under pressure to deliver a robust and reliable anti-doping system. Here, in the latest video showcasing Loughborough’s expertise in academia and elite-level sport, researchers from the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences have demonstrated the doping testing process and how the latest technology can identify prohibited substances. Dr Liam Heaney, Senior Lecturer in Bioanalytical Sciences, is joined by Doctoral Researcher, Alisha Henderson, to explain more. Looking at your own sources you posted, I'm not seeing where they're trying to cover anything up. At no point are they claiming the shooter who tried to kill Trump was Iranian. (Source: Your own link to The Guardian)The "Iranian plot" to kill Trump is completely unrelated to both of these, and the CNN article that Valwinz posted states that there is no connection to the Trump shooter. It's simply possible information that they're looking into, and Iran is presently denying. To be on the safe side, could you copy/paste the relevant part you're claiming they're saying and put it in a quote here?

Why CMA is investigating Microsoft-Inflection AI dealWhat Microsoft has to sayMicrosoft , in March, acquired Inflection AI and hired its staff to join its new AI division. Now, Britain's competition regulator has started a formal investigation (phase 1) into the tech giant’s partnership with the startup under merger rules.“The Competition and Markets Authority ( CMA ) is considering whether it is or may be the case that Microsoft Corporation’s hiring of certain former employees of Inflection and its entry into associated arrangements with Inflection has resulted in the creation of a relevant merger situation under the merger provisions of the Enterprise Act 2002,” the regulator announced on Tuesday (July 16).The CMA has set September 11 as the deadline to decide whether the investigation will progress into a second phase. If it happens, this may lead to an antitrust battle, presenting a stumbling block for Microsoft’s AI plans. In March, the tech giant hired Mustafa Suleyman , co-founder of Google DeepMind, as head of its newly-created AI unit. Along with Suleyman, Microsoft also hired a number of employees from Inflection as a part of the deal which is reported to have cost the Windows-maker $650 million. The CMA said it will find whether the creation of merger has resulted, or may be expected to result, “in a substantial lessening of competition within any market or markets in the United Kingdom for goods or services.”Previously, the CMA also signalled interest in Microsoft’s Mistral AI partnership but later decided that it didn’t qualify for further probe. Microsoft already faced questions over its partnerships with ChatGPT-maker OpenAI.Responding to the UK Competition and Markets Authority's (CMA) investigation, a Microsoft spokesperson told news agency Reuters: “We are confident that the hiring of talent promotes competition and should not be treated as a merger.”“We will provide the UK Competition and Markets Authority with the information it needs to complete its enquiries expeditiously,” the spokesperson added. The CMA has also sought views on partnerships between Amazon and Anthropic.

MILWAUKEE — Three days after the Saturday shooting at a Donald Trump rally in Pennsylvania, Republican party faithful streaming through the streets of downtown Milwaukee were turning the episode into a source of courage rather than fear. "I think the courage he had, I think the love for his party and the United States showed," Anne Reyes said. Trump has given speeches about securing the United States-Mexico border at rallies across the country, and Republicans see the debate as an area of strength. Former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley is among those who have called for tougher measures at the Canadian border. "President Trump asked me to speak to this convention in the name of unity," she told the crowd at the convention.

Man Utd are unlikely to appoint Gareth Southgate. Gareth Southgate has admirers among INEOS, but Manchester United are reportedly highly unlikely to target the former England manager if they sack Erik ten Hag this season. A well-publicised search for his potential successor included talks with Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Frank, Marco Silva and Roberto De Zerbi. Man Utd met Thomas Tuchel earlier this summer. But, for now, Ten Hag has the full backing of Ratcliffe and INEOS ahead of a crucial season for the club and himself.

Former President Donald Trump evaded serious injury, or death, by mere centimeters after a bullet struck his upper right ear during a campaign rally Saturday in Pennsylvania. The Republican presidential candidate pumped his fist, his face bloodied, as Secret Service agents hustled him off the stage following the shooting. … This bill has had bipartisan support because people on both sides of the aisle recognize the safety needs in this charged political climate.”Gov. It has received no vote in opposition so far, though three Republican senators voted against last year’s bill. “Public safety transcends party lines,” said Newsom in a statement.

(With inputs from agencies)NEW DELHI: Keir Starmer's Labour Party is poised to win a historic victory in the UK general election, ending 14 years of Conservative rule , according to exit polls released shortly after voting ended on Thursday.Labour is projected to secure 410 seats in the 650-seat parliament, while Rishi Sunak 's Conservatives are forecast to win only 131 seats, down from 346 previously. The Liberal Democrats are predicted to capture 61 seats, and Nigel Farage's Reform UK party is expected to win 13 seats. The exit poll represents a significant turnaround for Labour, which faced an existential crisis just three years ago.Voters appear to have punished the Conservatives for the cost-of-living crisis, years of instability, and in-fighting that has seen five different prime ministers since 2016. Sunak's campaign was plagued by gaffes, including getting drenched by rain while announcing the election and leaving D-Day commemorations early for a TV interview. While polls suggest there is no great enthusiasm for Starmer, his message of change seems to have resonated with voters. The disenchanted British public has moved to the center-left, unlike in France where the far-right National Rally party made historic gains in a recent election. If the exit poll proves accurate, Starmer will become Britain's next prime minister, and Sunak will resign, meeting with King Charles to seek permission to form a new government.

"Today, Britain can begin a new chapter," Starmer told voters in a statement. But change will only happen if you vote Labour," he said.Sunak, meanwhile, took to social media to drive home his message: "Polls are open. It's time to stop the Labour supermajority that would mean higher taxes for the rest of your life. Labour won 202 seats, the Scottish National Party (SNP) 48, the Liberal Democrats 11, the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) eight, Sinn Fein seven, Plaid Cymru four, the SDLP two, the Alliance party one, and the Greens one. "Stop Labour's supermajority" is the central message British Prime Minister Sunak was trying to drive home as he wrapped up his campaign, even as most of the incumbent Conservatives all but conceded defeat in the general election.
