In fact, up until recently, the little information I knew about birth control had steered me away from it entirely. But, as I have learned more, I have become increasingly aware of the casual misinformation that permeates every casual conversation about birth control and contraceptives. Hormonal birth control prevents the ovaries from releasing an egg via one of a variety of available hormonal combinations. Studies that account for missed or forgotten pills tell us that hormonal birth control is about 93% effective. In comparison, the practical effectiveness rates of other birth control methods are lower: such as the cervical cap after giving birth (71%), the pull-out method (78%), the birth control sponge after giving birth (78%), internal condoms (79%), spermicide (79%), the diaphragm (83%), the birth control sponge before giving birth (86%), the cervical cap before giving birth (86%), external condoms (87%), the vaginal ring (93%), the birth control patch (93%), and the birth control shot (96%).

Liverpool appear to open the scoring with what would’ve been an excellent counterattacking goal. Dominik Szoboszlai scores his second free kick of the season! It wasn’t a great half from the Reds, but they did look the most likely to score and managed to get their reward just before the halftime whistle. Hugo nearly scores again, this time rattling a great chance off the crossbar. This game has really opened up here in the second half, and is much more end-to-end than it was in the cagey first half.

This is the reality, with the club currently down to three fit senior centre halves including captain Virigil van Dijk, soon to be out of contract Ibrahima Konate, and injury-prone Joe Gomez. Meanwhile, chatter out of Germany further suggests his wage demands are seen as excessive by Bayern Munich and as such he isn’t a target despite being one of the nation’s top centre halves and a regular in the national team. In addition to Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham have been linked. From a Liverpool point of view, Schlotterbeck checks the boxes as a centre half who could replace Konate in the lineup if the French international moves on this summer when his contract expires. Whether that makes their interest genuine or just rumour monger chatter is, for now, a different question.

A Surrey pilot who became the youngest person to fly a Concorde says he is still fascinated by the supersonic plane, 50 years after its first commercial flight. Concorde first flew passengers from London Heathrow on 21 January 1976 and ran for nearly 30 years before retiring in 2003. Mike Bannister, who flew Concorde's last commercial journey, said that while it was sad that the plane had to be retired, he was excited for the next generation of supersonic travel. Bannister, from Staines, said: "It's fascinating to think that Concorde was designed in the late 1950s and early 1960s and there's still nothing that can do all the things it could all that time ago."

It’s quite liberating to play.”AdvertisementWhen we meet Zara, a low-rung worker at Lochmill Capital in London, she’s hungover and scattered. Sophie Turner as Zara in Prime Video’s “Steal.” (Samuel Dore / Prime Video)“We’re so often not allowed to go off the rails,” she says. “I don’t know why other people don’t like it. “It’s nice to have little secrets about the character that the audience doesn’t know and the directors don’t know,” Turner says. “But I don’t know if playing characters trying to find their way in the world necessarily helps me find my way,” she says.

Donald Trump has doubled down on his threats to annex Greenland, saying only the US could secure the Arctic territory, but ruled out using force. The US president said he wanted “immediate negotiations” to “discuss the acquisition” of the mineral-rich Arctic island, claiming “this would not be a threat to Nato” but would instead “enhance” the alliance’s security. Earlier, Sir Keir Starmer said he would “not yield” in his stance over Greenland in the face of Mr Trump’s demands. I don’t have to use force, I don’t want to use force, I won’t use force.”He launched fresh attacks on European allies by calling Denmark, to which Greenland belongs, “ungrateful” after the US’s “stupid” post-Second World War decision to “give Greenland back to Denmark”. The Prime Minister reiterated his position that “the future of Greenland is for the people of Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark alone” and that “threats of tariffs to pressurise allies are completely wrong”.

And the answer to those questions boiled down to crypto being a technology that was, on some level, deeply evil or deeply stupid. I don’t think I’m more creative than the average person, but I can honestly say I’ve been making something basically my entire life. If I’m not writing, I’m working on music or standup, if I’m not doing those things, I’m podcasting (it counts! Every time I’ve tried to involve AI in one of my creative pursuits it has spit out the exact same level of meh. What I’m saying is generative AI is a deeply expensive edging machine, but for your life.
