Citizens in several localities of Karachi suffered due unscheduled loadshedding as they are facing 15 hours of power outages. The resident in many areas of Karachi including, Gulistan Johar, Perfume Chowk and Shah Faisal Colony came on roads to protest against unscheduled loadshedding. Angry residents also blocked the roads which created traffic jams in several localities. They also chanted slogans against K-Electric. Long hours of power outages also created water shortage.

Former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan has accused the incumbent government of trying to put him behind bars on trumped-up charges in a bid to stop his party’s movement for “real freedom”. “Come what may, this movement for real freedom will not stop till the announcement of early elections,” he added. On the money laundering case against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Imran said the accused became the judge in his own case. Since India abolished Kashmir’s special constitutional status in August 2019, trade ties between the two countries have mostly remained frozen. The ministry of commerce, on the other hand, claims that Pakistan’s trade policy with India has not changed, implying that business ties will stay blocked. Naturally, some in the country will object to retaining trade links with India, accusing it of betraying the Kashmir cause. If trade relations with India improve, it may create more favourable conditions for the resumption of bilateral discussion and negotiations to resolve the decades-old Kashmir problem peacefully and judiciously. Allow it to investigate the possibility of resuming trade, especially if it benefits the local economy.

LAHORE – The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab has arrested nine suspects belonging to different defunct organizations during 38 intelligence based operations (IBOs) in Punjab. A spokesman for CTD said that during these IBOs, 40 suspects were interrogated while the arrested nine suspects included Muhammad Riaz of defunct organization ‘SMP’, Syed Muhammad Taqi-ul Hasnain from ‘SMP’, Sadam Hussain from TTP, Jameelur Rehman from Al-Qaida, Khalid Mehmood from LeJ, Naveed Akhtar from HIA (RAW), Abid Ullah Khan from TTP, Muhammad Arshad from TTP and Asad Abbas from SMP. However, two suspects – Rasool Khan and Ibrahim Khan – were also arrested for pilferage of explosives. Accordingly, seven FIRs were registered against the suspects, whereas the CTD also recovered explosive 05kg, detonator 40, safety fuse 30ft, 05 hand grenade, a pistol 9mm with 06 bullets, 154 banned materials, cash Rs. The spokesman said that CTD Punjab was proactively pursuing its goal of safe and secure Punjab and would not leave any stone unturned in its efforts to bring terrorists and anti-state elements behind bars.

Amid an energy crunch faced by Pakistanis in light of increased energy consumption during hot weather, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday approved a plan to provide natural gas discovered in the tribal districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) to the public. The decision was taken to provide relief to the public and to mitigate the energy shortage faced by Pakistan in wake of a record increase in global energy prices. During a meeting with the heads of Fauji Foundation and Marri Petroleum, the premier was briefed about gas reserves discovered in North Waziristan and Bannu, K-P. In Bannu alone, one trillion cubic feet of gas reserves were discovered recently. The premier was also briefed about the overall situation in the gas sector and its demand and supply.
