For this year’s Anzac Day commemoration, the Royal New Zealand RSA has chosen Phantom Billstickers’ frames to showcase posters of the iconic Anzac Day poppy. The RSA has long been a champion of the red poppy and its message of remembrance, and is committed to keeping its significance alive for future generations. This year, the organisation has chosen to display the red poppy in a new and impactful way, using Phantom frames to create larger-than-life street posters. Unlike other media, street posters make a public statement and deliver their message without interruption, day and night,” Phantom Billsticker’s says. Since its first appearance on Anzac Day in 1922, the red poppy has become an internationally recognised symbol of remembrance for fallen soldiers.

Strong Performance of Manufacturing Index (PMI) data on Friday night pushed global rates modestly higher. Strong global PMI data on Friday reinforced market views of further policy tightening ahead for the Federal Reserve, European Central Bank and Bank of England, pushing global rates modestly higher. PMI data showed increasing growth momentum for services sectors across the Euro area, UK and US and deeper growth contractions for the manufacturing sector for the regions noted apart from the US. With the services sector a larger part of the economy, composite indices improved across the board, signalling overall improved growth momentum in April. The data suggest that the UK and Euro area might have skirted recession and raise a question whether the US economy will even get close to recession, despite a range of other indicators giving a clear signal of recessionary forces.

All Blacks head coach Ian Foster. It’s standard practice for the All Blacks coach to pipe up at about this stage of the season to send a mix of direct and veiled messages to the professional playing base. Foster has found himself in the unprecedented position of heading to the World Cup knowing it will be his last act in the job. But what is true is that New Zealand Rugby’s decision to appoint Scott Robertson as the next All Blacks coach has liberated Foster from some of the conventional thinking which has bound his predecessors. Foster wasn’t making an idle threat when he said that some players need to lift the quality and intensity of their rugby.

Photo/ Sylvie WhinrayIt’s frills or frump, says Sinead Corcoran Dye on the fruitless search for a stylish maternity frock. Last weekend I looked over my very lovely husband’s shoulder to see him deep in concentration, googling “funky maternity dresses for the bigger lady”. In my travels and at least 40-400 hours of painful Googling I have established the following – and only the following – maternity dresses exist. The only label I have found that caters to bigger-bodied women who still want to wear nice, cool, well-made and quality fabric clothes is local brand, Ruby. But if my billion hours thrashing Google have somehow missed some chic, plus-sized, maternity gems that you know of, I beg you, please DM me.

Healthcare workers would be among those who might be more tempted to leave the country, he believed. Sally-Anne Colmore left NZ to work as registered nurse lead at Mineral Resources in Australia. The pre-COVID trend of more Kiwis going to Australia than vice versa has resumed, after a reversal when the pandemic struck. Over the year to September 2022 (the latest data available) 5400 people moved from Australia to NZ, with just over 8500 Kiwis moving to Australia. “The question is how New Zealand makes it more attractive to keep Kiwis here.”

Stephen Perofeta’s World Cup hopes were plunged into doubt on Saturday night. Two potentially serious injuries to All Blacks World Cup contenders cast a cloud over the Blues second successive rout of lightweight Australian opposition. The classy utility played three tests at fullback for the All Blacks last year but with Chiefs playmaker Damian McKenzie’s compelling form threatening his place for the World Cup, Perofeta’s injury setback couldn’t come at a worse time. We want to do well at the World Cup so we’ll always support our national team. It’s not great for the competition but in a World Cup year you’ve got to suck it up, I guess.

Professional Firefighters must be expanded to acknowledge the danger we are under from climate change and fire seasons. So many of the problems we encountered was the shear slowness of an underfunded, under capacity public service. The report is being launched as the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) begins in the United Kingdom over the upcoming weekend. The reality is that climate change will force us to adapt whether we want it our not.
