A police base commander died on Wednesday after his car got submerged in flood waters in the Matungulu area of Machakos County. The officer lost his life after the car he was driving got swept away by raging flood waters after River Kware broke its banks. His body was recovered by members of the public who quickly informed police officers of the tragic incident. "Efforts are still underway to retrieve his submerged car from the flood waters," read part of the police report.
