Kenya’s stock of external debt of $38.51 billion as at the end of January, which translated to Sh6.1 trillion in local currency terms, is now valued at Sh5.3 trillion, holding the accumulation of additional foreign debt constant. Foreign investors normally exchange their dollars for shillings when entering the local market, and buy back dollars for repatriation upon selling their shares. An appreciating shilling therefore gives them an exchange gain; given that they get more dollars for every shilling when exiting compared to when they came in. Local traders have taken the opportunity presented by the stronger local currency to stockpile on imports, there being no assurances on the sustainability of the recent rally. In addition, we believe that local dollar holders continue to divest to mitigate potential losses in anticipation of further strengthening,” noted Standard Investment Bank Senior Research Associate Stellar Swakei.

Nicholas Kithuku Mwendwa’s election as Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president on February 16, 2016, was received with much expectation from the public. Football Kenya Federation president Nick Mwendwa addresses delegates during the Special General Meeting at Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi on January 28, 2020. The development of women's football is another thing that Mwendwa’s office will be proud of. During his reign, the FKF Women's Premier League was launched with considerable help and funding from, Fifa.

If there’s one life lesson Musheer Khan should learn from his elder brother Sarfaraz, it’s about the essence of timing in sport. Musheer Khan scored 136 runs in the second innings of Ranji Trophy final. After battling through early jitters on the previous day, Musheer was middling everything on Tuesday, as he grew into his innings. Not just this final, Musheer has been prolific throughout the knockout rounds. “Last year when Musheer made his debut, Sarfaraz told the dressing room, what the others do, this guy can do much better,” said Musheer’s Mumbai teammate Shams Mulani.

Henry’s resignation comes alongside regional talks over participation in an international force, which he had requested to help police fight the gangs. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Monday the United States would contribute an additional $100 million to this force and $33 million in humanitarian aid, bringing the United States’ total pledge to the force to $300 million. The U.N. believes Haitian gangs have amassed arsenals of weapons trafficked largely from the United States. Residents in the capital saw heavy gunfire over the weekend as armed men downtown surrounded the National Palace on Friday night and by Sunday the United States had airlifted staff from its embassy. “Countries with actual stakes in the region will need to step up and help shore up security,” he said, pointing to the United States, neighboring Dominican Republic and other CARICOM members.
