The accused persons were brought back to court Saturday, April 24, for which they were slapped with fresh charges of high treason and conspiracy to commit high treason. The case is before a three-member panel of the Accra High Court, presided over by Justice Afia Serwaah Asare-Botwe. ACP Dr. Agordzo and Colonel Samuel Gameli, who were charged with abetment of high treason, were each granted bail in the sum of GH¢1 million with two sureties, one to be justified. The rest of the accused persons charged with high treason and conspiracy to commit high treason, were also granted bail in the sum of GH¢2 million each with two sureties to be justified.

Despite being granted a GHC500,000 bail by a High Court presided over by Justice Charles Ekow Baiden, he has been re-arrested by the National Intelligence Bureau after the case was appealed by Attorney General Godfred Dame. Appearing in Court, Attorney General, Godfred Dame explained to the High Court that his office had filed documents to discontinue the initial treason felony case and to file another; high treason. The Attorney General told the court that the accused persons also manufactured guns and ammunitions and had plotted to kill President Akufo-Addo. They also intended to jam transmission of all media organizations except the state broadcaster GBC and capture key state actors.

In what has become a 21st-century fable, some Ghanaians have been made to believe that the two millionaires owe half of East Legon. He explained that while the constitution has a provision like that, it is not cast in stone that of a necessity, there should be representation from across all regions of the country. “I think the president has done a good job nominating people who reflect the demographics of our country and so that is important and worthy of note. And I think there is also an attempt to reflect the regional balance even though I have to say that presidents often face this difficulty and my interpretation of the constitutional requirement of regional balance is one that charges presidents to as much as possible reflect that. “Therefore, presidents and our leaders, trying to meet that requirement – anyway, it’s a … dynamic of things rather than the legal because the legal requirement is not hard and fast.

“I was pleased to see on the list, people I would describe as youthful, on the list. “You have someone like Phaty Abubakar, who is nominated to be the deputy for Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah, and who is just 34. You have someone like Frederick Obeng Amankwah, for Upper West Akyim, who is nominated for Transport. He petitioned the Supreme Court to order a rerun of the election. However, his case against the Electoral Commission and the President of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was quashed as baseless by the Supreme Court. Speaking on Accra-based Ahotor FM, Ofosu Ampofo indicated that this was the first and last time the NDC will challenge results of elections in the Supreme Court.
