Anyidoho, who is founder and CEO of the Atta Mills Institute made the post hours after posting photos of a courtesy call to the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu. The National Chief Imam turned 102 years last week and was celebrated by, among others, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia, first on their social media handles and later by visiting him. Anyidoho has in recent times accused the media of being biased and harbouring an agenda against him.

According to a Daily Guide report, the officer identified as Sergeant Thomas Akoka was on escort duty at Kotosaa near Juaboso when he was attacked by a gang of four robbers who had no hesitation in putting 8 bullets in him. The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at about 1:30 in the afternoon. The victim is said to have been rescued by a reinforcement team from the District Police Headquarters following a distress call and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. The officer is now said to be responding to treatment at the hospital’s Emergency Unit and has already received a call from the Inspector General of Police, James Oppong Boanuh and the Director-General Police Welfare, COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo Dankwa.

In a quick response, the Eastern Regional Secretary of the NPP, Jeff Konadu who has contested the parliamentary seat for both Afram Plains North and South in the past, said the government of Nana Akufo-Addo remains committed to fulfilling the promise it made to the people of Afram Plains. The NDC has continuously chided the NPP for ignoring the area in terms of development despite the NDC itself also enjoying dominance in the area. The Afram Plains area is a near landlocked area that has all of its major entry points being via a crossing over either the Afram or Volta Lake.

A report by Asaase radio, sighted by GhanaWeb indicated that the appointment of the new SP is in line with the Office of the Special Prosecutor Act, 2017 (Act 959) which compels the President Akufo-Addo to within six months of the position being vacant, appoint a Special Prosecutor. Martin Amidu on November 16, 2020, resigned from office over what he described as “executive interference” in his work as Special Prosecutor. Akufo-Addo in accepting Amidu’s resignation directed that all that he required to facilitate his smooth transition from the Office of Special Prosecutor be afforded him. The said provision states, “the Deputy Special Prosecutor shall act in the absence of the Special Prosecutor or in the event of a vacancy in the position of the Special Prosecutor”.
