The adviser pointed out that more than 4 million Egyptians received Covid-19 vaccines without suffering side effects so far. He asserted that precautionary measures should remain in place through sticking to social distancing and wearing face masks to contain the pandemic. The Health Ministry said Monday night that 175 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak in the country began to 282,257. As many as 765 patients were discharged from isolation hospitals after receiving necessary medical care, taking the number of recovered cases to 214,852 so far, the spokesman said.

In a statement, Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed said 22 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 16,306. Speaking to Sada Al Balad TV channel, the adviser reiterated on Monday that Egypt has overcome the third wave of coronavirus and the numbers of Covid-19 cases are going down. This comes after Abdel Ati received on Monday an official letter from his Ethiopian counterpart Seleshi Bekele confirming that Ethiopia started the second filling phase of the GERD reservoir. Abdel Ati said this act represents a clear and dangerous violation of the 2015 Declaration of Principles signed by the three countries. Egypt and Sudan has reiterated rejection of the second filling of GERD, which Ethiopia builds on the Blue Nile, unless the three countries reach a legally-binding agreement on the dam. Rounds of African Union-sponsored talks have collapsed with Egypt and Sudan blaming the collapse of negotiations on Ethiopia’s intransigence.

The competent court in southern Cairo has rejected the appeal of businessman Hassan Ratib to detain him, pending further investigations into accusations of financing former MP Alaa Hassanein to illegally excavate for antiquities. On Wednesday, the appellate judge in the South Cairo Court renewed the detention of Ratib pending investigations. Preliminary investigations revealed the involvement of Ratib in illegal archaeological excavations with Hassanein, his brother, and others. Ratib has reportedly funded these operations with dozens of millions. This was confirmed by the confessions of Hassanein’s brother that Ratib had paid millions of pounds to search for antiquities.

CAIRO – 5 July 2021: Egypt's Armed Forces directed, Monday, sending two equipped helicopters to Cyprus to contribute in extinguishing the fires raging in the southern side of Troodos forests. The two helicopters are loaded with all kinds of advanced equipment to take part in putting out a huge forest fire that swept through the southern Limassol district of Cyprus destroying homes and forcing the evacuation of villages. Four Egyptian citizens working in Cyprus died in fires according to the Egyptian embassy in Nicosia. A statement issued by the Foreign Ministry on Sunday said the Egyptian embassy formed an operation room to contact the Cypriot officials topped by the ministers of foreign affairs, interior and health who showed cooperation with the Egyptian embassy. The Foreign ministry offered condolence to the families of the victims.
