Egypt’s movie box office revenues saw a small boom Wednesday, achieving a total of LE2.25 million in revenues with Karim Abdel Aziz’s “Al-Baad La Yazhab lel Maazoun Maretain” (Some Do Not Go to the Maazon Twice) earning the highest revenues, up to LE1.4 million on its first night of screening. The movie is starring Karim Abdel Aziz, Dina al-Sherbiny and Maged al-Kedwany, Bayoumy Fouad and a number of guests of honor, including Ahmed Fahmy, Amr Abdel Gelil, Nesreen Amin and others. “Ahmed Notre Dame” movie earned LE 41,000 in revenues. “Dido” earned LE18,000, starring Karim Fahmy, Mohamed Tharwat, Hoda al-Mufti, Bayoumi Fouad, Hamdy al-Mirghany, and Ahmed Fathy. Egyptian actress Sherihan will make her stage return after a 20-year hiatus from cinema and theater by starring in a “Coco Chanel” play. Sherihan, 56, will portray world-famous fashion Coco Chanel, who had a humble beginning born in a poor family and was then sent to an orphanage following her mother’s death. The play, written by Medhat al-Adl, and directed by Hadi al-Bagouri, will be streamed on the Shahid VOD platform on July 20. Sherihan’s last work on stage was the “Sharea Mohammed Ali” (Mohamed Ali Street) play, starring Farid Shawqi and Hisham Selim. She had previously taken a break from acting after a car accident in the 90s had fractured her spine.

Egypt on Wednesday has continued its exceptional opening of the Rafah crossing in North Sinai, allowing stranded people on both sides to go through the crossing and receive injured people in need. An official source confirmed the ongoing presence of administrative and medical staff at the crossing to facilitate the procedures to receive the wounded, crossing humanitarian cases between the two sides and bringing aid and equipment into the Gaza Strip. Equipped ambulances were provided to transport injured people to Egyptian hospitals for treatment, the source said. The crossing has been operating exceptionally starting on May 16 to receive people in need and provide various aid into the Gaza Strip.

CAIRO – 7 July 2021: Egyptian Health Minister Hala Zayed said the country is planning to locally produce 80 million vaccine doses by the end of the year to vaccinate 40 million citizens. In a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Zayed explained the quantities of the raw material set to be exported to Egypt to produce more Sinovac vaccine doses. Egypt already produced one million Sinovac doses as part of an agreement between the Egyptian holding company for biological products and vaccines (VACSERA). He added that the world's high demand for the vaccine made some companies the government contracted with delay their shipments' delivery to Egypt. The prime minister thanked the government of China for supporting Egypt in that respect, pointing out that Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed and state officials contacted the Chinese partners and got their approval to produce the vaccine in Egypt.

CAIRO – 7 July 2021: The Qasr El-Nil Misdemeanor Court fined a veterinarian L.E. 10,000, over charges of sexually harassing Actress Zeinab Gharib, and taking indecent pictures of her. Gharib exposed a veterinarian in May, in a video she streamed on her Instagram account, where she revealed that she was subject to a harassment incident when a man was stalking her in a dark street and she turned around to find him picturing her from behind. Gharib announced that she has filed a legal case to preserve her rights, and educate ladies not to be silent. The accused, who is a veterinarian, was arrested and referred to prosecution, where his phone was confiscated and three pictures of Gharib was found.
