Egypt’s movie box office revenues saw a small boom Wednesday, achieving a total of LE2.25 million in revenues with Karim Abdel Aziz’s “Al-Baad La Yazhab lel Maazoun Maretain” (Some Do Not Go to the Maazon Twice) earning the highest revenues, up to LE1.4 million on its first night of screening. The movie is starring Karim Abdel Aziz, Dina al-Sherbiny and Maged al-Kedwany, Bayoumy Fouad and a number of guests of honor, including Ahmed Fahmy, Amr Abdel Gelil, Nesreen Amin and others. “Ahmed Notre Dame” movie earned LE 41,000 in revenues. “Dido” earned LE18,000, starring Karim Fahmy, Mohamed Tharwat, Hoda al-Mufti, Bayoumi Fouad, Hamdy al-Mirghany, and Ahmed Fathy. It is written by Karim Fahmy and directed by Amr Salah.

CAIRO-8 July 2021: Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane ruled Al Ahly midfielder Amr El Soulia out of the squad that will face Al Mokawloon Al Arab in the Egyptian League on Thursday night. Egyptian actress Sherihan will make her stage return after a 20-year hiatus from cinema and theater by starring in a “Coco Chanel” play. Sherihan, 56, will portray world-famous fashion Coco Chanel, who had a humble beginning born in a poor family and was then sent to an orphanage following her mother’s death. The play, written by Medhat al-Adl, and directed by Hadi al-Bagouri, will be streamed on the Shahid VOD platform on July 20. Sherihan’s last work on stage was the “Sharea Mohammed Ali” (Mohamed Ali Street) play, starring Farid Shawqi and Hisham Selim. She had previously taken a break from acting after a car accident in the 90s had fractured her spine.

On July 8 session, parties involved, mainly Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia will present their visions on the issue, and the draft resolution will be submitted to the UNSC members. The Adviser to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi for Health Affairs, Mohamed Awad Tag Eddin, commented on the probability of a fourth wave of the coronavirus in Egypt, saying: “Everything is possible.”“The intervening period between the second and the third waves, and the current intermittent period that is witnessing a decrease in cases of infection and death, is extremely important,” Tag Eddin added, during a telephone interview with the “Yahdoth fi Misr” (Happening in Egypt) program broadcast on MBC Masr. “This intervening period before the fourth wave sees the the training and education of all doctors, workers and officials to respond to the wave, in addition to providing the largest amount of oxygen reserves and medical supplies.”“We hope that a fourth wave and other mutations of the coronavirus will not happen, but these are still wishes, and the reality requires us to provide all the necessary precautions and preparations to address any possibilities that may arise during the coming period,” he continued.

Egypt on Wednesday has continued its exceptional opening of the Rafah crossing in North Sinai, allowing stranded people on both sides to go through the crossing and receive injured people in need. An official source confirmed the ongoing presence of administrative and medical staff at the crossing to facilitate the procedures to receive the wounded, crossing humanitarian cases between the two sides and bringing aid and equipment into the Gaza Strip. Equipped ambulances were provided to transport injured people to Egyptian hospitals for treatment, the source said. The crossing has been operating exceptionally starting on May 16 to receive people in need and provide various aid into the Gaza Strip.

Other rounds of negotiations under the auspices of the U.S. saw Ethiopia withdraw in the last minute before signing an agreement. They both agreed on continuous coordination between Egypt and Congo to find a balance and fair agreement. In earlier statements, Sisi said the GERD negotiations could not go on forever. The terms also include:1 – Demand that Ethiopia cease the second filling of the GERD2 – Demand that Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia resume negotiations.

In a Wednesday statement, the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry said the water rights of Egypt and Sudan are legitimate, praising the two countries’ efforts to resolve the issue according to the international law. In a matter of hours, the Security Council will hold a session on GERD. The terms of the resolution proposed by Tunisia on behalf of the Arab League include:1 – Demand that Ethiopia cease the second filling of the GERD2 – Demand that Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia resume negotiations. 4 – Demand that the three countries stop any measure that delays negotiations. 5 – Demand that Ethiopia stop unilateral decisions.

The TPLF got marginalized since Ethiopia's Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed took office in 2018 prompting its ministers in the federal government to resign. The US has warned that Ethiopia’s start of the second filling of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) reservoir is a unilateral measure that would increase tension in the region. In statements to reporters, US State Department spokesperson Ned Price stressed the need for all parties to refrain from taking unilateral measures, stressing the importance of working to reach a negotiated solution acceptable to all. Price said that his country continues to support the cooperative and constructive efforts of the concerned countries, Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan, in order to reach a lasting understanding on the issue. Ehtiopia gave official notice to Egypt on Monday that it had begun the second filling of the dam. Ethiopia, on the other hand, has stressed the importance of the project to bolster its economy, where more than half of the population currently lives without access to electricity.

CAIRO – 7 July 2021: Egyptian Health Minister Hala Zayed said the country is planning to locally produce 80 million vaccine doses by the end of the year to vaccinate 40 million citizens. In a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Zayed explained the quantities of the raw material set to be exported to Egypt to produce more Sinovac vaccine doses. Egypt already produced one million Sinovac doses as part of an agreement between the Egyptian holding company for biological products and vaccines (VACSERA). He added that the world's high demand for the vaccine made some companies the government contracted with delay their shipments' delivery to Egypt. The prime minister thanked the government of China for supporting Egypt in that respect, pointing out that Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed and state officials contacted the Chinese partners and got their approval to produce the vaccine in Egypt.

CAIRO – 7 July 2021: The Qasr El-Nil Misdemeanor Court fined a veterinarian L.E. 10,000, over charges of sexually harassing Actress Zeinab Gharib, and taking indecent pictures of her. Gharib exposed a veterinarian in May, in a video she streamed on her Instagram account, where she revealed that she was subject to a harassment incident when a man was stalking her in a dark street and she turned around to find him picturing her from behind. Gharib announced that she has filed a legal case to preserve her rights, and educate ladies not to be silent. The accused, who is a veterinarian, was arrested and referred to prosecution, where his phone was confiscated and three pictures of Gharib was found.
