The 52nd session of the Cairo International Book Fair, which concluded on Thursday, received 1.7 million visitors. The exhibition’s digital platform saw 225 million hits while and the numbers users registered reached nearly one 1.6 million account. The platform exceeded 270,000 virtual tours and saw over 1.5 million book views online. The 52nd edition of the two-week Cairo International Book Fair was held under the slogan “Reading is Life” and featured 1,218 publishers from 25 countries. The Director CIBF Islam Bayoumi said that the online platform of Cairo International Book Fair provided unique digital services for the first time due to social restrictions from COVID-19.

CAIRO - 17 July 2020: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said on Saturday that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has issued persistent directives to the government to develop a mechanism for continued contact between officials and citizens, as well as for receiving and solving people’s complaints and demands. That's why President Sisi has decreed establishing the unified complaints system, Madbouli added. Madbouli has reviewed a report on the efforts made by the cabinet’s unified government complaints system to address citizens’ complaints from 2017 to 2021. "The system has received and handled approximately 3.2 million complaints and requests for distress since its establishment until the end of June 2021, of which approximately 2.9 million complaints have been made since the government of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly took office. ", Tariq Al-Rifai, Director of the Unified Government Complaints System said.

Egypt’s Health Ministry on Friday confirmed 77 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s total up to 283,567. The total number of COVID-19-related deaths has now reached 16,431 nationwide, after the ministry announced six deaths. And 799 patients were discharged from quarantine at isolation hospitals, raising Egypt’s total number of fully-recovered cases to 222,315. Egypt is currently using China’s Sinopharm vaccine and the UK’s AstraOxford vaccine. The committee, headed by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, agreed that restaurants, cafes, shops, and malls may return to summer working hours starting June.

CAIRO – 16 July 2021: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi issued decree no. 298 of 2021 to pardon some inmates on the occasion of Eid al-Adha and the July 23 Revolution anniversary. Last April, Sisi issued a presidential pardon for many prisoners ahead of the Sinai Liberation Day on April 25 and Muslim’s Eid Al-Fitr. Presidential pardons are customary to national and religious occasions. Thousands of prisoners have been released over the past years as per a presidential pardon.

The world’s longest and most modern Belgian-made trailer truck will transport King Khufu’s first sun boat from south of the Great Pyramid to the Grand Egyptian Museum. The 96-tire trailer has been placed near the boat in preparation for its movement. The boat is about 4,500 years old and stands at 43 meters long and almost six meters wide. It was discovered by the Egyptian archaeologist and journalist writer Kamal al-Malakh in 1954 AD. There have been rumors that a ceremony as grand as the transfer of the mummies to the new Museum of National Egyptian Civilization will be planned for the boat’s transfer.

It was not immediately clear how many people were on board the aircraft but estimates range from 13-17 passengers.
