In Jason Robertson’s first trip to NHL All-Star weekend the young Stars winger was able to have a little fun. Dallas’ budding star participated in only two of the events at the NHL skills competition on Friday night: the Tendy Tandem and the Pitch ‘n’ Puck. The Tendy Tandem competition focused mostly on the goaltenders at All-Star weekend, but they had help from the skaters of their division. Before the competition Robertson guaranteed he’d score a goal. Robertson went with a slap shot for his final shot on the green and overshot the hole.

Police announced on Friday that 43-year-old Robert Robin Cropearedwolf is wanted for manslaughter after the death of 73-year-old Michael Finlay. Finlay was walking along Danforth Avenue near Jones Avenue on Jan. 24 when he was randomly assaulted, police said. A cause of death has not been released but at a press conference on Friday Det. Hillier said that police do not believe Cropearedwolf and Finlay were known to each other. Speaking with reporters outside 55 Division headquarters, Hillier credited the community’s assistance in helping police identify a suspect so quickly.

IG news Update,HALIFAX – As a massive Arctic air mass expanded over the eastern half of the country on Friday, Environment Canada issued an unusually long list of extreme cold warnings, covering six provinces – from Ontario to Newfoundland and Labrador. “They are calling for -43 C to -47 C across the province with wind chill. In Ontario, the extreme cold that gripped the northern half of the province through the week had reached the south by Friday. Environment Canada said the wind chill index in the Greater Toronto Area could read -30C, while in Ottawa it could feel closer to -40C. No extreme cold warnings have been issued.

Toronto police have identified a suspect they believe is responsible for the assault of former CBC Radio journalist Michael FinlayToronto police provided an update Friday into an assault investigation which occurred in the Danforth Avenue and Jones Avenue area on Jan. 26. Longtime former CBC Radio journalist Michael Finlay, 73, died from medical complications a week after he was randomly attacked on a Danforth Avenue sidewalk, police said. Miller is stepping down as CEO of the company he founded, Future Electronics, in the wake of allegations he paid teens for sex. In an internal memo sent to staff Thursday evening, Omar Baig, the new CEO and president of Future Electronics, said the 79-year-old Miller "adamantly and vehemently denies the malicious allegations made against him and confirms that they are false." Future Electronics is an electronic parts distributor that employs 5,500 people and has 170 offices in 44 countries. On Thursday, Quebec employees of Future Electronics received an email advising them not to come to the office on Friday, due to the extreme cold "and given the circumstances."
