The White Sox extended their winning streak to a season-long four games on the strength of a couple performances that harkened back to games of yore. He was backed by Seby Zavala, who caught that excellent performance and drove in all three White Sox runs on a pair of homers. Despite the late bumps, the White Sox had still done enough to ensure that they’d never trail at any point in the evening. The less said about the White Sox lineup, the better. Bullet points:*The White Sox are now 4½ games out of first place after every other AL Central team lost.

Moderna, Pfizer and BioNTech were named in lawsuits Tuesday that accuse them of stealing a patented method developed by researchers from The Scripps Research Institute that made the COVID-19 vaccine possible. As of late Tuesday, Moderna, Pfizer and BioNTech could not be reached for comment on the lawsuit. The lawsuit filed against Pfizer and BioNTech alleges that in 2015, Promosome shared the technology with BioNTech scientist, Dr. Katalin Karikó, but neither company licensed the technology. Pfizer and BioNTech brought in $37.8 billion from sales of its COVID-19 vaccine, Comirnaty, last year. The hit Broadway musical “SIX” is coming to Toronto’s Royal Alexandra Theatre in September — with an all-new cast for the Canadian production playing Henry the VIII’s six wives, and the “Ladies In Waiting” band backing them up. The show — which won 23 awards in the 2021/22 Broadway season, including at Tony for Best Original Score (Music and Lyrics) — was written by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss when they were students for Cambridge University’s Musical Theatre Society. The musical comedy is a modern retelling of the lives of England’s King Henry VIII’s wives, but it isn’t your typical history lesson. Starring as Henry VIII’s wives are: Jaz Robinson as Catherine of Aragon, Julia Pulo as Anne Boleyn, Maggie Lacasse as Jane Seymour, Krystal Hernández as Anna of Cleves, Elysia Cruz as Katherine Howard, and Lauren Mariasoosay as Catherine Parr. It then travels to Toronto’s Royal Alexandra Theatre where it plays from Sept. 23 to Dec. 17, 2023.

New modeling suggests that even under a low emissions scenario, the Arctic could experience ice-free Septembers as early as the 2030s. “It is surprising and concerning, that even if we’re able to reduce emissions, we’re still projecting an ice-free Arctic,” Nathan Gillett, one of the Canadian co-authors of the study, told Eye on the Arctic. “Results indicate that the first sea ice-free September will occur as early as the 2030s–2050s irrespective of emission scenarios,” said the study, published Tuesday, in the journal Nature Communications. “These results emphasize the profound impacts of greenhouse gas emissions on the Arctic, and demonstrate the importance of planning for and adapting to a seasonally ice-free Arctic in the near future,” the research paper said. “Our observationally-constrained projections based on attribution results also suggest that we may experience an unprecedented ice-free Arctic climate in the next decade or two, irrespective of emission scenarios,” the study said.

First, because obviously all of the other candidates have determined that their hopes rest entirely on attacking Chow, and attacking her on this specific point about potential tax increases. Now it seems just as likely Chow cruises to victory without the levels of support ever really changing. And that leads to my third observation about that moment, and the state of the campaign so far: Olivia Chow has succeeded thus far, to a certain extent, by avoiding being pinned down to specifics. The point here is that so far, a growing plurality of people seem to be ready to vote for Chow based on liking and trusting her. Asking the same question over and over and expecting a different response just seems, past a certain point, silly.
